The ratings for WLTQ-AM, Air America's outlet in Charleston SC are - literally - off the charts. As in, they do not appear on the charts.
Apparently Clear Channel switched their stations around in December of last year. Even I'm confused, so here's a table:
Before Dec. 2004:
WSSC-AM broadcast right talk
After Dec. 2004:
WSSC-AM became WLTQ-AM, and has AAR
WSSC-FM now hosts the former right talk of WSSC-AM
Confused? Here's the bottom line. In Winter 2005, WSSC-FM (the right talk channel) got a 3.6 share: #10 in the market but the top talker.
However, the new Air America outlet (WSSC-AM) is not on the charts at all. Now, of course, that could be because of the switchover. In fact, AAR could be the true top talker in the area. In fact, at any given moment half the households in South Carolina could be tuning in to hear Al, Janeane, Randi, and Mike pontificate.
