Air America congress media bias forum open thread

Please post your comments about the media bias panel featuring Al Franken, Randi Rhodes, David Brock, Walter Duranty, and others in this thread.

I've listened to a few minutes so far and I'm having trouble coming up with a correct analogy. I'm going to go with "listening to paint dry" for now.

Hopefully Randi will have said something "interesting."

Previously: "Randi Rhodes at Congress Media Bias panel"

UPDATE: C-SPAN didn't broadcast the meeting live, and there's no scheduled air date. In the meantime, we're going to have to make do with the comments of Rep. Conyers:

There are a few alternative sources willing to speak truth to power. I first learned about the now infamous Downing Street Memo on Daily Kos. Bradblog, Raw Story and Air America have been at the forefront of our ongoing national election scandal. But these voices are too few and too diffuse to overcome the blatant biases of our cable channels and the negligence and neglect of our major newspapers.

He gets his news from Daily "Screw 'em" Kos?

Meanwhile, the counter-revolutionary capitalist running dogs from NRA-TV weigh in:

I think my favorite moment had to be Randi Rhodes proclaiming that liberals are being blacklisted in our country's newsrooms. In fact, she said that if you're a liberal, you will have a hard time finding a job as an investigative reporter.

I'm beginning to think that "liberalism" must be just a psychological affliction, a veritable smorgasbord of persecution complexes and delusions and such.

I hope that there will be an opportunity to hear all of the forum. We had to put up with the FCC rules and the need to pay for the shows so we didn't have the opportunity to enjoy the whole experience.

I'll need to listen to John Conyer's intro again, but I could have sworn I heard him say "The Media need to watch what they say".

I wonder why Brock, Franken, Rhodes et.al. didn't immediately jump to their feet and shout "You're restricting our free speech!!!!"

How does Ranti Rhodes (I wish someone would find what this woman's real name is and leave Randy Rhodes rest in peace)explain Rathergate and the Newsweek mess. Karl Rove must have set them up(I am joking). They want free speach restricted so they have the only voice. They can't handle the free market. So they want the rules changed to what they think would be fair. Who cares if no one listens to them and stations loose money, becase of a reinstated fairness doctrine. They want a socialist state. Regulated free speach is a big step. Does Ranti think she was blacklisted, because CC would not give her a national show? I have listen to her for 10 min and wondered who in their right mind even gave her a local show. They must have been drunk or high. Maybe that is why some AA affiliates are opting out of her program.
