Surely it shouldn't be difficult to say something nice about Ms. Randi, right? One or more commentators have said some non-nice things about her, now it's time for the other side.

Randi is one of the most intelligent, hard working, most informed radio commentators on radio. She's hard hitting, focused, and honest. Randi Rhodes kicks butt!
Posted by: JIm at August 6, 2005 11:25 AM
Randi Rhodes served her country in the military without needing to be drafted, she didn't hide behind a cyst on her ass or pretend she had better things to do.
Didn't refuse a physical to avoid service after getting family favors either.
I'd say although no one needs to earn the right to speak their opinion Randi certainly has.
That doesn't mean anyone has to like it, or agree with it.
But they are unamerican if they attempt to deny it.

Coolest thing about her is that despite the fact that she's an incredibly talented sharpshooter with the AR-15 and a marksman with the M82A1, she has not yet used these skills to give our commander in chief a radical face lift from half a mile away, not that the Secret Service lets her get that close to him anymore. Nevertheless, thanks, Randi!

BUT... since then, she has become triple fact-check oriented and is feared by the ignorant believers of the administration's deliberate propaganda and the administration itself. How much could a little truth possibly hurt? AND WHY???
I defended Nixon (stupidly) as many defend this administration. I learned the hard way. When will you guys find truth?

xxein, I listen to Randi, on her old station, Jack Cole (RIP), was a liberal and used to refer to her as the biggest idiot at the station. She wouldn't know what a fact was if she witnessed it happen. She doesn't check her facts, Air America can't afford to pay someone to check facts. She contradicts herself from one show to the next, seriously listen to her AND pay attention. Everything is a conspiracy theory. Give it a rest, she is a nut case, like every other extremest liberal.

Baghdad Betty can be distinguished from Tokyo Rose for one very salient reason. Baghdad Betty does not broadcast from Iraq --she broadcasts from New York City.
World War II gave us Tokyo Rose, the Japanese radio broadcaster whose job it was to demoralize American troops. Seoul City Sue did the same thing for the North Korean communists during the Korean War. Hanoi Hanna was the Vietnamese communist version.
Today we have Baghdad Betty. However, Baghdad Betty can be distinguished from the aforementioned for one very salient reason. Baghdad Betty does not broadcast from Iraq -- she broadcasts from New York.
Baghdad Betty aka Randi Rhodes is one of Air America’s premier talk show hosts. Actually, Randi Rhodes is a nome de microphone. According to a recent Ann Coulter column, her real name is a secret.
I first heard Rhodes about a year ago during a trip to Fort Lauderdale. After about twenty minutes of her repeating Bush and Nazi I realized she was incapable of an original thought so I changed the station.
I have not listened to Air America since I wrote about the network when it first began broadcasting. I felt it might be interesting to get their current perspective. So I tuned in recently to listen.
I began with the 10 AM show of Lizz Winsted and Rachel Maddow. I skipped the noontime Al Franken show and returned for Baghdad Betty/Randi Rhodes. What I heard was a rebroadcast of her show of several weeks earlier. Listening to Baghdad Betty’s dialogue with a caller named Dave and her subsequent monologue I learned:
“We (the United States) invaded an unarmed country (Iraq).”
“We (US) bombed the hell out of “unarmed country ( Iraq).”
“They (Iraq) had no air force”
“We (US military) are torturing the people we went to liberate (Iraqis).”
“They (the Iraqi people) waited a year for us to take care of them. We didn’t. Then they found out about us torturing people that is what created the insurgency.”
“Every single solitary military guy,” said there were not sufficient troops in Iraq.
Just imagine: all this disinformation was from just one show. One can only imagine what Baghdad Betty says on a regular basis. Her rant was pure propaganda. One only wonders if she is a dupe of the antiwar crowd or intentionally deceiving people.
Whichever it is none of what she said was true. For example:
If Iraq were an “unarmed country” as she said, then maybe she could explain how Lance Corporal Andrew Julian Aviles was killed when an Iraqi artillery round struck his amphibious assault vehicle on April 7, 2003.
If we did “bomb the hell out of an unarmed country” then she should explain the December 1998 CNN report stating, “Iraqi forces would shoot at warplanes patrolling the no-fly zones.”
If Iraq did not have an air force as Baghdad Betty says, then why did the December 2002 Daily Telegraph say, “An Iraqi warplane shot down an unmanned US surveillance drone yesterday, threatening to escalate the tension in the region as America builds up its forces for a possible war early next year. Why did a 2001 UPI story claim, “Since December 1998… [there are] more than 160 incidents of Iraqi aircraft violating the zones.”
Baghdad Betty claimed the Iraqi people waited for a year for us to do something to help them then, when we did not help them, and seeing the photographs from Abu Ghraib, the insurgency began. If this were true why is it that the November 13, 2004 New York Times reported, “nearly 18 months after the Iraq insurgency began in May 2003.” (italics mine) Why is it that the nonprofit think tank Jamestown Foundation wrote on June 17, 2004, “insurgency began in May 2003 with the outbreak of violence by the Sunni Arab population.”
According to Baghdad Betty, we are torturing the people we were liberating.
Does she think SSGT Joseph Darby was torturing prisoners? He was the person who told officials about the illegal conduct by guards at Abu Ghraib. What about all the other troops who investigated and prosecuted these abuses? Are they all guilty of torturing innocent Iraqis or Iraqi prisoners.
She also said that “every single solitary military person, “said more troops were needed. Yet, General Tommy Franks was quoted as saying July 7, 2003, “more troops not needed for Iraq.”
Baghdad Betty said we do not have any trouble murdering people in this country, while drawing the parallel to capital punishment here and the snuff films broadcast by the terrorists.
There is a report that she once advocated the assassination of President Bush during her broadcast.
Her biography says she was in the Air Force. If this is to be believed her insulting of the military is outrageous. Her biography also says she is a “smoky-voiced Brooklyn native” (This explains why I thought she was merely doing a bad imitation of Barbra Streisand).
She is completely without credibility. Randi “Baghdad Betty” Rhodes is to talk radio what “Tikrit” Teddy Rall, who said Pat Tillman was an idiot, is to newspaper cartoons.
They are fools.
BTW her real name is Randi J Buten

Reading the comments people have left here, I'm reminded how grateful I am to every crack shot that hasn't lit up the limo and left Bush's brains splattered across Laura's quivering bosom. I like to keep in mind that if Cheney takes over, the world goes BOOM, especially since he hasn't quite gotten the bugs out of that defensive missile shield yet. Now I'm as much for bringing about the end times as the next guy, but I hope to get just a little more drinking and screwing in before I repent. That's why I appreciate Randi so much--even if she did at one time have the chance to frag the commander in chief, she didn't. What would Laura do as a widow? Do you people want to leave the Bush children fatherless? You clowns don't realize how appreciative of Randi you should be. So once again, this time despite the protests of the ingrates posting here at Bore America who seem to wish she'd pulled the trigger, thanks Randi!

Randi Rhodes says she has 5-10 million listeners. HUH?? Washington D.C.'s station that broadcasts Air America ratings are 0.2 not 2.0 but 0.2!!! She seriously beleives she can influence the House to draw up articles of impeachment for Bush. She spewed on and on last year that if Bush is relected-He will reinstate the draft, overturn Roe vs Wade, He will produce Osoma Bin Laden (because Osama was sleeping in the Lincoln bedroom? I quess), right before the election, go to war with Iran......and when Bush won fair & square, she went on and on like a sour apple spewing hellion, the elections were rigged. Bottom line-Randi Rhodes is mentally ill.

Arbitron ratings are useless for anything other than ad rates. 5 to 10 mil sounds low--don't forget about the Internet where all the really whacko liberals hang out--she's got plenty of podcast subscribers. And then there's alt.binaries.air-america.radio for the usenet scum. That's some rich irony right there: why would a anti-capitalist liberal listen to a radio show with commercials when the same show is available for free download without any advertising?
By the way, Nascarman, you still going to try bombing the ranch in Crawford? Because I think it might be a really bad idea, what with all the press down there. Just a suggestion.

Rush Limbaugh Still Dominates New York LMAO
As Rush Limbaugh approaches his 18th anniversary in August as king of the talk airwaves, his ratings assure his continued rule.
Heard Monday through Friday on WABC-AM, "The Rush Limbaugh Show" is the No. 1 talk program in the noon-3 p.m. ET time slot.
Among persons over 12, Mr. Limbaugh has a 4.1 share, with 139,100 listeners tuning in, on average, every quarter hour.
Among adults 25-54, he has a 2.5 share, with 50,600 of them tuning in, on average, every quarter hour.
Al Franken, who airs at the same time on WLIB-AM, has a share of 1.8, with 61,400 persons over 12 tuning in, on average, every quarter hour. With adults 25-54, he has a 1.7 share, with a listening audience of 34,400, on average, every quarter hour.
Therefore, Limbaugh's audience is more than double Franken's audience.
Furthermore, among all radio programs on the AM and FM dial during the noon-3 p.m. time slot, Limbaugh ranked No. 5 among persons over 12 and No. 17 among adults 25-54.
Franken, on the other hand ,ranked No. 23 among persons over 12 and No. 20 among adults 25-54.
In addition to Limbaugh and Franken, below are numbers for other talkers who don't run head to head with Limbaugh:
Rush Limbaugh – 4.1 share – 139,100 quarter hour listeners
Al Franken – 1.8 – 61,400
Bill O'Reilly – 2.1 – 72,700
Jerry Springer – 1.1 – 37,000
Known as the media pundit who reshaped the political landscape with his entertaining and informative brand of conservatism, Limbaugh is also widely credited by many industry experts with resuscitating AM radio
I dont see Randi Baghhttp://newsmax.com/archives/ic/2005/7/19/191507.shtmldad Betty Rhodes on the list
hmm America does not believe the spew that comes out her pie hole.. You libera;s will never learn.

I think you are really confused about Randi's motivations. While she may take too long to get to her point, she does know what she is talking about. Like over half the country, she is actually so furious that George and his adminsitration are allowed to get away with treating the American people so badly.
He IS personally responsible for the deaths of over 100,000 Iraqi's and several thousand US soldiers (yes, several thousand - the media only counts those who die on the field. If a soldier dies once he's in a hospital or at home - that doesn't count).
Say what you will about Randi - quotes from George are always the least intelligent and the most arrogant you will find. The real problem is that people are really burying their heads in the sand because it is way too hard to believe the US has sunk this low. Middle America doesn't read the paper or think about what George is doing day to day. People want and need to think he is looking out for them. Most probably cannot any good reason why they voted for him anyway. The economy is terrible, Social Security is a mess and George will make it worse, Karl Rove committed at least one well known crime and George is covering up for him, soldiers are dying for no reason, Osama was never found and we no longer look for him, we never found weapons of mass destruction nor are we looking for scientists who were supposedly working on them.
The final insult is that George left tens of thousands of people to die. Babies died from dehydration and people were abandoned. Babies were raped and the government didn't respond. Where was George? Playing golf and coming up with ways to get John Roberts in before Congress came back to work. Dick was on vacation and so was Condi. This is acceptable? How can anyone say it is OK for the President to abandon these people? When he did arrive, he arranged photo opps and left. Why didn't he go to the Superdome? Even Oprah went. Local government is furious with him and so are people who have watched the news. We know he won't help us if we are ever in trouble. Local governments screamed for years that they needed help in case of the hurricane and now George is blaming them and doing his own investigation. Do you not find anything wrong with a President who will not allow an independent investigation? Even the best president makes mistakes yet George has said he will never change his mind even when proved to be wrong. Yes he said that.
At the risk of turning people off who have spent years trying not to think about this - are you better off since George was appointed to office? A few wealthy Americans are better off. Housing prices are inflated and when that is over, there is really nothing else for the majority of Americans. He has limited free speach and the Patriot Act is a real commitment to removing the few freedoms we had left.
There is a direct correlation between how educated someone is and how likely they are to be Democrats. We may be considered bleeding hearts but you know what? It wouldn't hurt George to have a heart every once in a while.

Red Cross Blocked Before Levee Break
Red Cross workers arrived in New Orleans with enough food, water and blankets for thousands of Hurricane Katrina victims the night before levees broke and flooded the city, but were prevented from delivering the aid to stranded citizens by state officials.
"I'm told that they were ready as soon as the winds died down and the roads were passable, which means before the levees broke," Fox News Channel's Major Garrett reported Thursday.
"They were there, they were ready ... when there clearly were lots of people already at the Superdome, because that's where they were told to go," Garrett told ABC Radio's Sean Hannity.
Though democrats have insisted that the Bush administration was responsible for delays in getting relief to flood victims, Red Cross officials told Garrett it was the state who blocked their aid convoy.
"The state of Louisiana said, 'Look, our plans call for those people to be moved out. We want them to be moved out. And if [the Red Cross] comes in, they won't move out. So we're not letting you in.'"
Appearing an hour later on Fox News Channel's "Special Report with Brit Hume," Red Cross President Marty Evans confirmed the stunning development, saying, "We were ready from literally the time the storm blew through. We were ready to go. We just were not given permission to go in."

Liberal Mayor Nagin: Gov. Blanco Delayed Rescue
After days of blaming the federal officials for not responding quickly enough to the Hurricane Katrina crisis, New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin praised President Bush on Monday - and charged that Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Blanco had delayed federal rescue efforts by 24 hours.
"I'm so happy that the president came down here," Nagin said of Bush's Friday visit to Louisiana in an interview with CNN. "He came down and saw it, and he put a general on the field. His name is General Honore. And when he hit the field, we started to see action."
But Nagin had harsh words for his state's leaders, telling CNN: "What the state was doing, I don't frigging know. But I tell you, I am pissed. It wasn't adequate."
The New Orleans Democrat said he urged Bush to meet privately with Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Blanco during the visit. The meeting took place aboard Air Force One, he said.
After reviewing the crisis with Gov. Blanco, Bush summoned Nagin for a private chat - where, according to Nagin, Bush explained: "Mr. Mayor, I offered two options to the governor. I said . . . I was ready to move today. The governor said she needed 24 hours to make a decision."
Reacting to the governor's footdragging, Nagin lamented: "It would have been great if we could have left Air Force One, walked outside, and told the world that we had this all worked out."
"It didn't happen, and more people died

people who blame bush
for those of you who like to blame bush i have a few questions...
if it was so evident the levees were going to break why did you wait until AFTER the hurricane to prove your point?
if it was so evident sending national guardsmen to iraq would be such a danger to natural disaster recovery why did you wait until AFTER the hurricane to make that argument?
if it was so evident the organization and funding of fema was such a disaster why did you wait until AFTER the hurricane to complain about it?
i think i know the answer. liberals dont love anyone other than those who spout the same mindless, thoughtless drivel as josh marshall, dailykos and randi "baghdad betty' rhodes. these people want others to die. it is the only thing that will prove their twisted arguments. all it took was one soldier to be killed in iraq before the rats came out of the woodwork screaming and yelling and protesting the war. however, it is icing on the cake almost 2,000 have been killed in their eyes. as more and more of our soldiers die, the happier they become...the more they enjoy a good smirk before they go back to writing osama love letters and raising taxes.
then comes katrina...and you've never heard such glee from the left. its really the silver lining to lives not worth living. the liberosphere was up late with the lexis nexis doing all they could to pin the disaster on someone with an 'r' after their name. in fact, some where even claiming mother nature could be a republican, seeing as how mother nature never loses an election. anyway, it was almost palpable...the coinciding butts puckering up could have drained lake pontchartrain in less than an hour. yet instead of lending a hand the left have worked themsleves up quite an erection.
worse than any terrorist organization, worse than any natural disaster, worse than the wrath of god himself, these people feed on death. they are peddlers of the sick, the dying, the lost, the dead, the lonely, the homesick, the devastated. they feed off of these emotions for without them they would have nothing to say. it would be quiet...almost peaceful. unfortunately for those of us not wanting to blame, for those of us who understand there are lives to be saved and looking back won't take us forward right now, for those of us who understand compassion, for those of who want to end suffering and for those of us who do it all so quietly...we are drowned in the din of irrationality and hate that has become modern liberalism

And she is having more done this week.( The reason why she is off... In more ways than one).Randi is no bleeding heart liberal. She in this business to make money. Randi Rhodes is a pathological liar. She even lies about her looks. I saw her while she was in Crawford and she looks nothing like the picture on the AAR site. And she's a midget. She thinks that telling her audience, she has 12,000,00 listeners, will make it so. Her shows last week hit an all time low. Yeah sure, we believe you Randi, when you barf out -President Bush didn't respond sooner "because he wanted those people to die" By the way, she didn't grow up in Brooklyn, she grew up in Queens. Her lies are endless. She's a freak. When Hot air america deflates, hopefully she will go find a traveling carnival show, and join up.

i have to tell you , i used to listen to jack cole in fla at wjno, and stopped and tried rush limpbaugh [haha] untill his b.s just grated on me too much. and began to make me mad because anyone could tell he always desprately tries to spin everything thats wrong with the rep. party. or explain it away, sometimes its even laughable. anyway then i heard randi on the raido, and thought how refreashing she is , look i know everything she says isnt the gospel but she certianly RESEARCHES HER INFORMATION BEFORE SHE PUTS IT OUT THERE.ID JUST LIKE TO THANK HER AND HOPE SHE CONTINUES TO DO A GOOD JOB FOR AMERICA,HOW CAN YOU DESPUTE THE TRUTH?YOU MAYBE DIEAGREE BUT YOU CANT DENY .
