Here's a brief response I've sent a couple of email correspondents who accuse The N&O of liberal bias for not publishing a story on financial questions they have heard about involving Air America, the national radio network heard in the Triangle on WCHL-AM in Chapel Hill, and a charity in the Bronx. Here's what I said: "We've checked our news services in recent days and do not find this story... if a story is reported and distributed we will look at publishing it."This post discusses the following excuses from Sill as to why the scandal wasn't covered, which boil down to the N&O not having something they could publish. However, he interviews four newspaper editors who basically say that's hogwash. A commentor says this:
Blogs can draw attention to overlooked stories, and perhaps that's the case here. We'll keep looking.
I just Lexis/Nexis searched and posted to Sill's blog. Turns out, the N&O has copied quotes, sections and entire STORIES from the NY Post and NY Daily News in the last year.Just keep repeating to yourself: there is no liberal media, there is no liberal media.
So much for the "We found it but cannot publish it" thing.

Monitoring Air America Radio [TM] so you don't have to.
