Air America Radio accepts ads from Communist-linked group

What sort of "patriotic" "liberals" would accept ads from a group with open, self-admitted, unabashed ties to the Revolutionary Communist Party? Why, Air America Radio of course.

Pause, and let that sink in. The radio network featuring Jerry Springer (former mayor, future something or other), Mike Malloy, Al Franken (who wants to be a U.S. Senator), Janeane Garofalo, and Randi Rhodes is accepting ads from a group with ties to the Revolutionary Communist Party.

The group in question is World Can't Wait, and their ad is described here: rwor.org/a/019/debra-sweet-world-cant-wait.htm . That last link is to the RCP's homepage here in Amerika. One of WCW's spokeswomen and "initiators" is Sunsara Taylor, who's also a supporter of the RCP. As pointed out at DK, their domain name is registered to Clark Kissinger, another "initiator" of WCW. Among many other highlights of his resume (dissident.info) is this: "Supported Bob Avakian's work to build a real communist party in the U.S."

The group's link is dropped here.

And, from WCW's faq (worldcantwait.org/faq/):
Q: But aren't there communists in World Can't Wait?
Yeah, there are. Supporters of the Revolutionary Communist Party helped initiate it. They're in it because they think it's absolutely urgent to get rid of this regime, that it would both lift a huge burden from the world and would also give people a sense of their own potential power, and they think all that would open up avenues to get to the society they want. Same as a whole lot of other people in World Can't Wait which, by the way, includes Greens, Christians, Republicans, anarchists, Muslims, Jews, feminists, Democrats, pacifists, and people who claim no affiliation who also think it's urgent to drive out the Bush Regime and who also think it can help lead to bigger changes that they want in society, coming from their own viewpoints.
They aren't all Commies! So, it's perfectly acceptable that Air America Radio is accepting ads from a Communist-linked group.

I don't see how analyzing the X Degrees of separation from Marxists is doing anything productive. It's been done in the past, of course. People who supported integration got called commies because the American Communists also supported it, so... just food for thought...

Hey Sundown, what if there was a pro-troops or a pro-Bush rally out there that was being loosely sponsored by the KKK or Operation Rescue? Libbies would be all over that like goats on garbage. And if such a rally was being sponsored by the aforementioned groups and it became public knowledge, we would avoid that rally like the plague. More food for thought...

This isn't "guilt by association".

This is a supposedly pro-American "liberal" organization taking money from and running ads for an organization that doesn't even try to hide its associations with the Revolutionary Communist Party.

There is no excuse.

The evidence cited above makes it clear that this WCW org is nothing but a front group for the RCP. This case is entirely different from, for example, the continuing efforts of the left to portray anti-illegal immigration activists as Nazis or Klansmen based (as far as I can tell) on no evidence whatsoever. And even if a handful of people with racist inclinations make their way into immigration control organizations that says nothing necessarily about the organizations per se. To claim otherwise is truly an assertion of "guilt by association".These days the left has a virtual monopoly on McCarthyite tactics.

I always had my suspicions that the WCW was a Commie front, especially since they were owned by "Billionaire Ted" and tried to put that great American capitalist, Vince McMahon, out of business!

Ok, time to address the comments:

Scott, I somehow doubt that Lewis Libby is worried about political rallies right now.

RA, I'm not convinced that this means anything. So Air America runs ads from a marginalized political group. Wow. Shocking.

Like I said, if you want to play six degrees of separation, go ahead. Here's a website that's kind of fun for that.

... and religious zealots who believe rape victims should be denied abortions have W's home phone number. Which is more frightening? Which has greater impact on the political landscape?

And to perroazul del norte: "the left has a virtual monopoly on McCarthyite tactics." Excuse me? Pot, have you met Kettle? The very page we're reading now is a shining example of guilt by association being foisted on AAR because of whom advertises on it.
