Marc Maron, Morning Sedition cancelled

Air America Radio has canceled Morning Sedition and Marc Maron will be leaving on December 15, it has been reported. I guess I was wrong. This is just the latest in a long line of brilliant moves on AAR's part, as, even though I've never heard him, Maron is supposed to be entertaining or something.

His current co-host, Mark Riley, will have a solo show from 5-7AM. Rachel Maddow will move to 7-9AM.

Maron might be given a one-hour show from L.A., but what exactly that means isn't clear. And:

I can't wait for the next e-mail I get soliciting membership money from AAR. They'll get the response they deserve.

According to this:

If they think they're gonna take on rightwing clowns like Limbaugh with a snoozefest, they're insane.

Yeah, and? A site notices a lot of PSAs during MS. A blog blames AAR CEO Danny Goldberg. James Wolcott has issued a "Call to Arms" (being liberals, the arms will be Molotov cocktails and legislation).

At Randi Rhodes' site, the post announcing the news has just one reply.

However, at AAR's site, "Robespierre" thinks of the higher and common good:

At least AAR seems solvent for another year. Face it folks, the commonality of "us" is to move the nation forward, to ensure a better life for our children and grandchildren, and that hasn't been altered one iota.

However, "artnorton" has a different take:

fuck goldberg or whatever his name is. I mean HOURS of randi rhodes ragging on and on, irratating me who agrees with her point of view but jesus! I can't stand her voice- and then they take away the most brilliant radio I've ever heard? Funny, informative, inviting- did I mention brilliant? Fuck'em!!! I hope Mike Malloy and Marc end up on another network- They're the only thing worth saving- Sorry, I forgot to mention Rachel's bright mind also

They're also trying to assemble "Morning Sedition Memories".

Back in October, I asked, "Is Air America falling apart?" Add another data point to the pile.

Wow. This website is so popular! Zero comments... zero comments... zero comments....

Yet you have the audacity to call AAR boring. Who says neocons don't understand irony?

Free market of ideas, boys. I'd have said natural selection but, you know... science. Didn't want to go over your heads :-)

First of all you have to compare apples to apples. This blog just documents the failure of Off The Air America Radio to get a real market.

If you want to compare Off The Air America Radio to another show you can compare it to the ratings of Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly's radio show, Michael Savage, Neal Boortz, Larry Elder, and others on the right or libertarian side.

Why would you say "Free Market of Ideas" as some kind of brilliant retort when OTAAR is having to resort to Public Service Announcements and promotional advertising for the radio station itself. PSAs are only put in when ordered to as part of their FCC "Public License" or when there are no other advertisers to fill the air space.

Off The Air America Radio should be swimming in money due to all of the money that George Soros, MoveOn.org have invested. And then there is the New York Times which has done numerous puff pieces on OTAAR and it's gain in listeners (HA!) to Rush Limbaugh.

OTAAR is a joke. If the Left is so popular why don't you get Markos "Screw The Troops" Zunginia of Daily 'Kos to fill in that space? A wide range of Republcan, Conservative and Libertarian talk shows have appeared after Mr. Limbaugh started his show, I wonder why there isn't a similar thing with the left? Maybe it is because there is no market for the current Leftwing's "Hate America" speeches and rants...

For people who never win at anything, loony lefties are sure cocky.
