Talkers Magazine: Rush Limbaugh beating Franken by only 12.5 million listeners

There's only a 12.5 million gap in listenership between Rush Limbaugh and Al Franken, Talkers Magazine reports in their "Fall 2005 estimates of the weekly cume ratings".

Limbaugh gets at least 13.75 million weekly cumulative listeners, while Al Franken is hot on his heels at 1.25 million.

Other Air America or "liberal" radio stalwarts are coming close to Rush too: Ed Schultz with 1.75 million, and Stephanie Miller with 1 million.

It will just be a matter of a few short decades before liberal radio has the same figures as the right-wing icon, sources inside AAR report to this reporter.

You're really comparing Al Franken (70 stations, 1.5 years) to Rush Limbaugh (600 stations, 20 years)?

Yeah, just like Lost (1.5 years) gets compared to Law & Order (Mezzozoic Era). This isn't unheard of, you know.

1. Radio and TV are different mediums.

2. Just because they do it with Lost/L&O, doesn't mean it's okay to do it with Franken/Limbaugh. Stupid comparisons don't excuse stupid comparisons.

Take a look at how crappy AAR is doing nationaly:

As for your BS that Franken's only been on the air for 1.5 years, so has Bill Bennett and he's smoking Al's fat ass....So is Ed Shultz btw.... Liberal voices are screaming, it's just that nobody wants to listen.

Why did you just post the exact same link as the one posted in the initial post?

A Bill Bennett comparison isn't fair. There are thousands of right-wing talk stations in the country. For however many of them he is on to add his show to their line-up isn't a problem. In pretty much all cases, it's was just replacing one right-wing talk for another. However, for Al, he first needed for a station to go liberal, then add him to the line-up. That is far more difficult.

And why are you looking at Franken's ass? And how fat is it?

Posted by: Alex at November 10, 2005 04:32 PM

Umm..Alex, are you aware that Franken boasted supremacy to Limbaugh back on his show in March during their anniversary? He claimed that in one year he had already gotten on 60+ plus stations and over a million listeners, far better than Limbaugh when he started.

Of course he did happen to leave out that he has been well known since he was the writer of some show called "Saturday Night Live." It isn't like he came out of nowhere. Franken's an idiot.

Why has Al's book dropped like a torpedoed flounder on the Amazon best seller list?

Down to 20!

Currently 'My Friend Leonard' is whupping his fat ass!! It's by James Frey btw... The book not Al's fat ass, that is curtesy of Micky D's...

Ryan: I heard about Franken talking about his initial success but I don't remember him comparing it to Limbaugh. Can you get me a transcript?

Randi Sucks 1: Yea, KABQ went down. So did some other stations. But more went up than down. That's a good thing.
WHMP (Springfield, MA): 0.8 to a 1.6
KPTK (Seattle): 1.4 to a 2.0

Randi Sucks 2: Why did it drop? I guess because the retards at the Republican Propaganda Network didn't sue him this time.
