Air America Radio loses WLIB?

Is Air America Radio about to lose their sinking flagship, New York City's WLIB? That's what Brian Maloney says. Apparently Randy Michaels - former Clear Channel exec, owner of Ed Schultz, and the man responsible for Rush Limbaugh - is trying to buy Inner City Broadcasting Corporation, from whom AAR leases WLIB. ICBC might be exercising a clause in the lease that would let them dump Al, Randi, Janeane, and the "gang".

Since their ratings there weren't that spectacular, I have trouble seeing how this could be little more than a crippling blow to their pride and credibility. They've still got stations in Karnes TX and Crystal Lake IL to fall back on.

(P.S. Special private note to AAR insiders: feel free to spread those tips around. In fact, we are more than willing to be quite "generous gents" when someone has some news, if you know what I mean.)

You probably won't print this. I listen to Air America all the time. You guys are likely O'Reilly and Limbaugh and Hannity fans. Do you not realize that those guys and all the prominent NeoCons are unintelligent? People like Mike Malloy and others on Air America have brilliant minds. I can't stand to listen to someone who distorts logic like Limbaugh et al. Maybe the right and left in the US are going too far to both extremes but I'll say this, I would rather err on the side of compassion and helpfulness and freedom than on the side you guys might be erring on. Peace sucka.

One last thing...

Can you fathom the list of scandals that Bush has accrued as president? It is mind-boggling. Do you honestly believe his is a great, Godly man who is simply a victim of a liberal witch hunt? He can't dispute any of this with fact only spin. Most Repubs are too emotionally invested in their politics, too narrow-minded, too dedicated to a particular values issue (banning gays kissing in public or some nonsense) to actually observe the truth and think. Think you are right Neocon? Why do you down grade being able to think logically? Wanna see what a member of the intellectual elite I am? Ok, I would bet my entire net worth that if we randomly selected 100 democrats and 100 republicans and gave them IQ tests, the democrats would score significantly higher.

List of scandals? Can you please list these scandals and post links to UNBIASED (not dailykooks, moveontocommunish.org or outoftruth.org) sources that offer proof of Bush's culpability? Or are you simply another dope smoking 20 year old idiot living in your mother’s basement?

Saddam had to go, and now he's gone.

And this is the reason why: http://images.search.yahoo.com/search/images?p=kurds+gassed&tab=Images&fr=my-vert-img-top

Now you can continue your worthless Bush bashing, but the simple fact is: Republicans control the Executive, legislative and judicial branches of government.

Do you know why?

1. Democrats are weak on terror
2. Democrats rule by the latest poll
3. Democrats are hypocrites
4. Democrats stand for NOTHING
5. The Democratic Party has been hijacked by left wing nutcases like you.

Hey Sizzle, Mike Malloy said the founder of the Blogs For Bush website should get the crap kicked out of him. Do you always get aroused by hatemongers?

Posted by: Scott at March 5, 2006 08:55 PM

Hey, Fizzle McFizzle is AAR is so great why is no one listening? I have tried to follow AAR, but it hurt my head to think down to that level. I am trying to figure out how we are support Iran (according to that Rhodes woman). I can't figure out how a tax cuts for everyone is an FU according that Seder guy. Maybe I am just not that bright. Or most of AAR hosts are stupid and violent.

"Mike Malloy, a brilliant mind"??
I've listened to this Donk for 1 hour. He used the words, "bastard, rat bastards, son-of-a-bitches,& dickheads" at least a 1/2 dozen times. He makes Howard Stern sound like a choir boy.

Often wondered why the FCC didn't take the time and effort to censor this kind of talk. Figured it out. Why should the FCC bother censoring Malloy & AAR...Hell, no one listens..

Mother said people who curse alot aren't very bright.

Are you serious Sizzle? Compassion? Helpfulness? Freedom? Give us liberal policy examples of each and I will detail how wrong you are. Seriously, let's start with compassion...

Your posts were nothing more than proof that liberals can not debate ANYTHING without inserting some sort of ant-bush vitriol. Even when it has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with Dubya (Air America).

AllThreeBranches also has an interesting challenge for you. Lets see how you do with that one.

And in conclusion... I've never met a Republican who downgrades logical thinking. Most actually beg the opposite. It's usually the Dems who lack any sort of linear thought. Liberals are the most contradictory group of people ever... Hug A Tree, Kill A Fetus.

Nice troll, fella. I fell for it.

I'm not shocked wlib dropped aar the rumors have been flying for months now, but i am sad that lib will probaly not return to any of it's previous programming prior to aar, Funny how people get caught up in the signal game, but if my mem serves me correctly wwrl was a top nyc urban aka black music station back in the 70's, but i didn't hear much complaints about it's signal, and it always broke the hot r&b jams before the white aka top 40 mainstream wabc wnbc wmca radio did, so this guize about signals is just that.

plus wwrl does stream. I think where aar will get hurt is that again they had to rely on a struggling black station to find a home on nyc radio. One of the last reported reasons the sutton family gave as to why they dropped aar wasn't soley about ratings, but about the sutton family feeling aar reniged on a deal made when they let marc riley and wayne gilman go over to aar they thought aar would reach out to the african american community, peppy sutton felt they didn't, even aar's gm acknowleged that fact a few months back.

Be that as it may aar has got to stop relying on struggling black stations and struggling stations around the country in general to build itself up as a radio network.

As for wlib there has been alot of inaccurate speculation that wlib will be sold, I can tell u from their history, they like to keep things in house. That's why they never went public when the "radio ones" did. Also if the sutton family wanted to sell wlib they would of did so 2yrs ago instead going with aar in the first place.
AAR was supposed to provide the listenership and credibility to madison ave that they "wlib" felt they never got before leasing to aar in the first place, and madison ave an the arbitrons still said it didn't wash.

Either way WLIB will continue to lose credibility in the african american community.

And so will WWRL.

and so will aar atleast in the nyc market.

In a city that's known as the liberial capital of the US u have to ask yourself with somuch radio real estate how come aar can only find itself homes on struggling black stations that many feel have weak signals?

Posted by: radio assasin at August 4, 2006 07:04 PM

The problem with AAR is that it totally dismissed the Black and so-called minoritiy Communities. They really did not even have a minority personality on during the day.

In addition the Black community although very progressive really only have a core group of advid listeners to progressive radio, and many of them listen to WBAI or the Open Line on Sundays on Kiss FM. The remainder of the Black community listens to mainly music.

Lol very funny "most black people listen to music." that's like saying most white people are colonizers give me a break, and call it what it is.
