Vote: Air America's new "New York City" home

The NY Post provides a slight bit of further confirmation that Air America Radio is on the brink of losing their sinking NYC flagship WLIB. They point out that all the available stations that could host AAR are in fringe areas and don't reach all parts of the city.

Rather than looking back, I want to look forward. Therefore, I'd like you to suggest what city will host AAR's new "New York City" station. Bearing in mind that their "San Antonio" and "Chicago" stations are fifty miles from either city, here are my top tips:

- downtown Newburgh, NY (free crack for interns!)

- Secaucus, New Jersey (endless jokes possible for AAR hosts!)

- Philadelphia

Please enter your suggestions in the comments.

The city dump.

Portland, OR - it's the only major market AA is doing well in, and Franken is always bragging about it.

Posted by: cpps90 at March 7, 2006 12:45 PM

is this site run by Bill O'Reilly?...thought so.

Posted by: Fair Ann Balintzd at March 7, 2006 12:50 PM

Winnemucca Neveda

Posted by: Randi Sucks at March 7, 2006 03:34 PM

How about S.F. Bay..Aboard the USS Iowa.
Then S.F. will have it's liberal Military Navy.

Posted by: BIG MIKE at March 7, 2006 03:40 PM

Back in the 90's we kicked and ran Bill Press out of the L.A. area due to the fact that he was sooo far to the left and his facts were nonsense. Get ready AirHeadAmerica, you're next, except we will let you take your spewing crap to Cuba or some other Communist country. AAR really pissed me off when I heard one of their commercial spots for one of their Moron Hosts say" we're gonna fix this Damn Country. If they think of this as their Damn Country, then it's time for them to go.

Posted by: WestCoastRepublican at March 7, 2006 04:18 PM

Wow! People on this site REALLY don't like to hear people that don't agree with them. I listen to Air America all the time. I also listen to Limbaugh every day. Anyone that doesn't support the right of both sides to have a voice, clearly doesn't love this country. In fact, you don't like it very much. Don't fear or hate those that disagree with you. That's just ignorant. If you don't like it, then don't listen. Some of us aren't afraid of listening to opposing views because we understand that there is no better way to form an informed opinion. It's easy to believe that you're right, if you only listen to people that agree with you.

Posted by: LikeToStayInformed at March 8, 2006 09:33 AM

LikeToStayInformed you miss the point of Air America balancing Limbaugh, Hannity etc. The conservative talk shows are balancing NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, PBS, NPR etc. Before they came along, the stuff spewed as 'factual news' wasn't discussed or balanced by anyone with a different perspective. Air America is just piling on the existing liberal media, not balancing anything.

Posted by: mplstom at March 8, 2006 10:05 AM

I didn't miss the point. You did. The desire to shut down ANY voice is unamerican. I don't feel the need to rally behind anyone that wants to silence anyone else. That point of view is COMPLETELY contrary to who we are as a nation. I appreciate the existence of the pundits that I disagree with, and I would defend their right to say what they have to say. To feel otherwise is just hateful and short sided.

Posted by: LikeToStayInformed at March 8, 2006 10:27 AM

Mildly OT, but another place Err America is doing well is in Eugene, Oregon. According to the Arbitron data over at radioandrecords.com, the local AAR affiliate went from 0.9 to 2.4. In the rankings, they moved from the bottom of the pile to 11th (out of about 20). Although, this being a liberal college town, perhaps they should be doing better, but still, it's better than most of their other markets.

I like the south pole. They could really monitor global warming or just freeze to death.

Posted by: GregD at March 8, 2006 02:32 PM

In regards to liketostayinformed, YOU just don't get it do you? Again, the Airheads @ Air America have been bad mouthing our Gov. for too long now. They obviously have been taking after that sore looser ex-vice pres. Al gore (Bore). Again and again, CBS,ABC,CNN, etc. come up with a story that they think will sink the ship when in fact a few days after their story, their ships get sunk. I listen to both sides as much as possible in order to stay up to date and have an open mind, but to listen to the massive whining by these liberal morons is beside me. The people that are ruining this country at this moment are the Al Gores, the Jimmy Carters, the Rob Reinners (meathead), and of course the Roger Moore's of this country. When you have a talk show host like Randi Rhodes that uses the word BASTARD in every other sentence, I have a problem with that. Now that is Un American. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

Posted by: WestCoastRepublican at March 8, 2006 05:02 PM

The radical right has nothing to offer but this stupid site.

By the way, we borrowed another $2 billion again today (and every day) from the Chinese socialists who oppress religious minorities, don't believe in free press and ethnically cleansed Tibet to pay for your idiotic war on terror. But no problem, we'll just stiff the bill onto people who aren't born yet! And they say Bush is a halfwit!!

Posted by: sparky at March 8, 2006 08:12 PM

Hey sparky,
Since when do liberals care about the unborn?

Posted by: Nick M at March 8, 2006 11:55 PM

Hey, Sparky most of our debt is held internally by the US people. Most democrats don't believe in the freedom of the press. Look how the view talk radio and the internet.

Posted by: GregD at March 9, 2006 08:53 AM

The Russian Space Station. Imagine seeing Franken, Rhodes, Grafalo and Malloy's faces looking out the window and Malloy's demonic cackling emitting from it every 2 minutes.

Posted by: Sam Limbaugh at March 9, 2006 12:23 PM

Hey Nick,

Remember back in '94 when the radical right had the Contract with America? One of the 10 items was a balanced budget. Why don't you guys want to talk about that anymore? OOOPS change the subject!!! Gay Marriage, flag burning, it's Bill Clinton's fault, it's the liberal media's fault. You guys have nothing but the same warmed over dittohead talking points.

If you believed in freedom of the press, you should not be getting your panties in a bunch over Air America.

Posted by: sparky at March 9, 2006 12:33 PM

Balanced budget...that really did the Democrats a lot of good in Nov 2004...and 2002...and 2000...and...

Posted by: cpps90 at March 9, 2006 02:51 PM

So basically then, what you are saying is that you republicans no longer care about fiscal responsibility and the Contract with America was only a gimmick to trick weak minded people like you to vote for them. Got to hand it to the repubs, they sure know how to get votes! Just say anything the stupid will follow.

Posted by: sparky at March 9, 2006 03:11 PM

Hey Sparky, I bet you're glad that Al Gore invented the internet!

Posted by: WestCoastRepublican at March 10, 2006 03:11 AM

Hey, sparky take a breath. I hate to see you turn blue. Then keep ranting and turn blue. I guess they want to put a hit out on us. If want to call someone stupid look in the mirror your the one who voted for Kerry.

Posted by: GregD at March 10, 2006 09:14 AM

I love to hear the radical right twisting themselves into a pretzel trying to defend their failed policies.

Nothing new here.....more of the same hollow dittohead talking points.

It is little wonder all the true conservatives (Pat Buchanan, Peter Bartlet, Bill Kristol, even George Will) are jumping off the bandwagon in droves. Pretty soon all you'll be left with is non-critical thinking NASCAR types. OOOPS! that describes you!!!

P.S. I really enjoyed listening to Bartlet on the Franken show. His words to describe the Bu$h administration, inept and unconscionable. OOPS! I guess that describes you too!!!

Posted by: sparky at March 10, 2006 09:59 AM

Wow, what is like to be the only person listening to that show? I bet you own the Lateline box set. In my market AAR is huge failure (Dallas is 0.0). BTW enlighten us these failed policies so we can further poke fun at you. Also, Sparky tell us how to make one of your tinfoil hats. It appears you mastered this skill long ago. I can see your start to turn blue.

Posted by: GregD at March 10, 2006 01:19 PM

Sparky, there are enough failed policies on both sides of the isle. That point is pretty moot.
Kenny, Uranus (avoiding the obvious here) actually might have merits. During certain parts of the month, they could cover all of NYC, dirro for the Russian Space Station. But can you imagine (ignoring for the moment, launching these guys into outerspace...) them packed into that small a space, without a Starbucks?

Oh my!

Posted by: Vic at March 10, 2006 01:23 PM

guys, it's understandable why you are so angry and defensive. I would be too if I still had a W sticker on the back of my car. It can't be easy being a public laughingtstock. Oh yeah, you are the 27% that think this country is on the right track, I forgot.

If you want chapter upon chapter of failed policies read Bartlet's book, if you can.

Sparky,(1) we know that you voted for everything before you voted against everything, RIGHT? (2) You didn't have sex with that person! (3) When your term in office was up, you didn't STEAL items from the White House did you? Just keep on listening to idiots like Franken(stein), Springer, Rhodes, you will go far in life. Why I bet you even think O.J. was not guilty? I once had a dog named Sparky, he got run over by a car.

Posted by: WestCoastRepublican at March 10, 2006 05:13 PM

I'll repeat the question Sparky... Let's see if you can stay on topic. If you want to debate other policies (like fiscal responsibility), then fine. But answer my original question please.

From my earlier post...

Hey sparky,
Since when do liberals care about the unborn?

Posted by: Nick M at March 11, 2006 12:06 AM

I am sticking to my orginial comment. I think the South Pole would be a wonderful home of AAR. If that is not possible they maybe able to broadcast from Sparky's garage, because that is only thing they will be able to afford. That is assuming sparky has a garage. If not he/she may have to ask mom if AAR can use the garage.

Posted by: GregD at March 11, 2006 05:01 PM

West Coast...sorry about your dog getting run over. This no doubt caused you a lot of emotional trauma that you're still dealing with.

Nick....Yes I am pro-choice. This is because when a bunch of rich white republican males make it illegal you can bet your bottom dollar the minute their daughter or their mistress gets pregnant, they will put her on a plane and send her somewhere to get an abortion. All they are really doing is limiting choices for people who don't have their financial means. Now please tell me how you guys still claim to be the party of fiscal responsibility? I find it amusing the "Family Values" crowd votes to cut funding for Head Start so Paris Hilton can have a tax cut. But hey! those Louis Vuitton poodle bags don't come cheap!

Greg...What scares you so much about other points of view?? Insecurity perhaps?? And yes Air America can use my garage any time.

I go back to my original point, Instead of getting your panties in a bunch over Air America, Gay Marriage, War on Christmas, the liberal media, etc., why don't you guys worry about some real issues. Then perhaps people might start trusting your party and your president again.

Posted by: sparky at March 12, 2006 06:56 AM

Nick....By the way, stiffing the unborn with Trillions of dollars in debt hardly qualifies you guys as moral highgrounders. Go peddle your hypocrital "family values" jihad somewhere else.

Posted by: sparky at March 12, 2006 10:38 AM

Dear Sparky, your party will never trust our party. You talk about War on Christmas, Gay Marraige, and AAR (liberal media), these things are NOT normal in Christian Values and that is where you are wrong. Your people want to take GOD off of our money, out of schools, and elsewhere, things were much easier when gays were in the closet and not forced upon us, Christmas use to be nice when people would say Merry Christmas while shopping, but NO, your people don't see it that way. As towards emotional trama, the only trama I have these days is listening to the Liberals whine about everything under the sun and never have a plan to correct anything, just whine, whine whine. Obviously you are more concerned about Hollywood celebs than you are about the real people in AMERICA. As for AAR using your garage, I think that they are currently using someones bathroom as the echo's and tin room sounds that emit from their broadcasting tells the whole story. Ed shultz is probably one of the BIGGEST LIARS out there. He has been stating his ratings as being higher than the other talk show hosts, when in reality, the particular markets that he is talking about don't have the other talk people in those markets. Makes sense to me, why would a Conservative talk show want to market themselves in a Democratic city? Not going to happen.

Posted by: WestCoastRepublican at March 12, 2006 02:43 PM

Sparky were do you think AAR should move to? That what this was about or did you forget? Maybe you are uncomfortable that your point of view is being quickly dismissed. Family Values Jihad I would have to say that is too funny! I guess you support unisex bathrooms in public schools. Sparky your such a dhimmi!

Posted by: GregD at March 12, 2006 03:25 PM

West Coast...get a grip man! everything you brought up is more of the same far right talking points, disconnected with people's every day lives. If you guys want to keep harping on these issues, your trustworthiness with the average American will only keep declining. When better than 70% of the public thinks the country is seriously on the wrong path, that is more than just democrats who don't like what they see. Wake up and smell the coffee! As far as Shultz being a liar, I hear every other talk show host, left and right, talking about how great they are doing, what a shock that they all exagerate!!

Greg....AAR can move wherever they want. Now answer my question, why are you so afraid of points of view that differ from yours? Are you really that insecure?

Posted by: sparky at March 12, 2006 06:29 PM

No sign of intelligent life in this crowd....Beam me up Scotty!

Posted by: sparky at March 12, 2006 07:27 PM

Greg....Sparky your such a dhimmi?

What is this supposed to mean? Poor grammar and worse spelling. You can learn much from a person by how he communicates (or attempts to).

Posted by: sparky at March 12, 2006 07:49 PM

Sorry, I am still trying to figure out what a "Family-Values-Jihad" is (I had to ask the Mrs. she laughed herself silly). Sparky, your still such a willing dhimmi.

I love when people throw sats and not provide a source. Where did this number come from? AAR's crack team writers? I would like an answer.

Posted by: GregD at March 12, 2006 08:35 PM

Greg....The number I site came from the latest AP/IPSOS poll.

I have gone about three rounds with you and you still don't have the spine to answer one of my questions. WHY DON'T YOU GROW A SET AND ANSWER ME? 1.Why are you so afraid of points of view that differ from yours. 2.Why do you still claim to be the party of fiscal responsibility? You strike me as being very insecure about many things, differing points of view being but one.

Anyhow, I've enjoyed the banter on this pathetic little site, but I'm leaving to find another site where the regressives are capable of doing more than reciting the same stale talking points over and over, granted it won't be easy. I'll leave you with this:

Infinitely better men than all of you put together have given their lives for freedom of speech. If you choose to listen to a drug addict draft dodger whose been divorced 3 times, Limbaugh, give sermons on family values, you have every right to be ignorant and uninformed.

Posted by: sparky at March 13, 2006 06:33 AM

Hey Sparky, I am going to HANNITIZE (Sean Hannity) you, poof, you're Hannitized. Don't you feel better now. What in the Hell does a 3 time looser to marriage, talk show host have to do with anything, at least Limbaugh has his facts together. Now compare him to the past president Clinton, who was a cheater from the word go. Then to top that all off, Clinton ALSO DODGED the DRAFT and went to College in another country. You should be ashamed of yourself SPARKY for even thinking about pulling one over on us, CheckMate. You are suppose to look up to Clinton as a leader, but under the circumstances from his past, nobody looks up to him and further more nobody should ever listen to him. Yes, you do have a different point of view, but unfortunately your view is way out there in LEFT FIELD and WRONG.
