Sam Seder's thought processes are FUBAR

The New York Daily News' "Liberal pundit delivers a left hook to the right" offers an extolment of Sam Seder's latest book "FUBAR: America's Right-Wing Nightmare". It's "co-written" with Stephen Sherrill. Whether that means they actually worked on it together, or whether that means that Sherrill is the actual author and Seder just provided a few jokes here and there is unknown. It is also unknown whether this is a picture of the two authors.

What is known, however, is that Sam Seder is an idiot:
So [Sam] channels that frustration, he says, into satire - like rewriting Franklin D. Roosevelt's post-Pearl Harbor speech as he imagines it would have come out under current President Bush.

He figures it would have been delivered four days late, insisted none of his team had done anything wrong and finished by encouraging citizens to go out and do something - except not a massive war effort organized by big government because he hates big government.

Instead, he would suggest, "Go purchase a gun, maybe join a militia ... and make your way over to Germany."
That's cute, but Seder is clearly confused over even the broadest outlines of our president. Bush is a huge fan of huge government, as even many bright grade schoolers are no doubt aware. He just wants the huge government to benefit his supporters. And, those like Seder who fail to realize or acknowledge this help him in that goal.

As for the "militia" comment, if Seder is trying to say that Bush is on the right edge of things, perhaps he should take a gander at, just as one example, this. Seder is either woefully ignorant, or perhaps he's just uncomfortable with just how "liberal" our "conservative" president really is.

Turning to his night job:
"[Air America, the failed liberal network has] gotten another voice out there... It's helped the liberal infrastructure, bloggers. We've shown you can make money with a liberal agenda."
I'm no accountant, but isn't a "loan" from a Boys & Girls Club not really "making money"?

Can Air America Milwaukee sell $1 million in pixels?

The oddness of Air America, Sheldon Drobny, and their supporters never ceases to amaze.

The latest claim is that they've found a really good station in Milwaukee that could carry AAR's programming.

There's just one catch: the current owners won't lease it, they'll only sell it. And, it'll cost $5 million.

That's where you come in. See, they want you to give them money.

But, wait! You'll get something in return: pixels. Just like the effort to bring back AAR Phoenix, the Drobnys are trying to sell pixels. They've already sold 600, with just 999,400 to go. So, get yours now and avoid the rush.

Please do it, and do it now! Don't make them seek alternative sources of funding.

Bernie Sanders: "why isn't half of talk radio progressive?"

"Independent" (read: socialist) Congressperson Bernie Sanders had something to say at the Take Back America confab:
"If we were sitting here six or seven years ago," the term "talk radio" would have meant "Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Ollie North and all the right-wing nuts who would have occupied 98 or 99 percent of the space out there," Sanders said. Listen to Audio

"Well, you know what? Things have changed," Sanders said. The liberal network "Air America is doing very different talk," and several progressives are being broadcast on a variety of media outlets.

Nevertheless, Sanders admitted that he is unhappy with the number of liberals on the air. "This is a divided nation," he said, "so why isn't half of talk radio progressive?"
The obvious answer is because they have not yet invented a radio that forcibly attaches itself to people and makes them listen to shows that they have no interest in. Unfortunately for Bernie and his good buddies Al, Janeane, Jerry, and Randi, radio is still a voluntary medium. No doubt after The Revolution that will change, however.

Robert Redford discusses plan for clean energy independence on Rachel Maddow Show

That's the punch line, here's the setup:
WASHINGTON, June 12 /U.S. Newswire/ -- With cameras rolling, talk show hosts ranting and bloggers raving, the "Progressive Media Row" at the Campaign for America's Future's annual "Take Back America" conference brings together the largest cross- section of top progressive media outlets. In plain view of more than 2,000 conference participants, the Progressive Media Row serves as a central work area for more than 100 progressive media outlets covering the largest gathering of progressive leaders and activists this year.

Kicking off the Progressive Media Row on Monday morning, Robert Redford held a roundtable with dozens of bloggers and went "live" on Air America's "Rachel Maddow Show" to talk about the Apollo Alliance's plan for clean energy independence.
This follows YearlyKos. In fact, participants must have jet lag since I believe that ended just yesterday.

All of which makes me wonder, who exactly is paying these bloggers to jet around the country? At least two of those participating in the TBA conference are employees of Media Matters for America, a group that admits it's received money from George Soros. As for CAF itself:
The Top Two Individual Contributors To Campaign For America's Future Were George Soros ($300,000) And Stephen Bing ($100,651). (Political Money Line Website, http://www.tray.com, Accessed 1/8/05)... Largest Contributors In 2002 Cycle Were UAW ($200,000), AFSCME ($189,000) And AFL-CIO ($130,000). (Political Money Line Website, http://www.tray.com, Accessed 1/8/05)
Why don't Soros, Bing, or one of the unions simply bankroll Air America Radio and keep it from going out of business? Part of the Rachel Maddow Show is sponsored by SEIU, why don't they just go whole hog?

Randi Rhodes, Jerry Springer mourn for Zarqawi

Bill O'Reilly's people have been listening to Air America:
JERRY SPRINGER, AIR AMERICA: We never should have gone in from day one. Now — and I understand tens of thousands of people have been killed because we chose to go into Iraq. That is true. We killed a hell of a lot more people just by the decision to go into Iraq than ever died at the hands of Zarqawi.

...RANDI RHODES, AIR AMERICA: Even the White House press secretary says this today at the press briefing. He says if you look at some of the Al Qaeda memos to Zarqawi, where you had direct pleas -- will you please stop beheading people, it's bad PR. Then you have to say to yourself, my god, Al Qaeda is telling Zarqawi to cut the crap with the killing of the Iraqis. And yet, we haven't cut the crap with the killing of the Iraqis.

Is that unbelievably despicable or what? I mean, it is off the chart. The far-left blogs also spit out hateful propaganda. This from the Huffington Web site:

"How many people even heard of Zarqawi before Bush invaded Iraq? Bush made this guy into a hero and now he's taking credit for killing him."
Lest you think these are just isolated incidents of liberalism at its looniest:
Another [DailyKos] user named "ronik" expressed a similar sentiment: "If you agree with this killing, do you also agree with lynchings because people 'knew' the person was guilty and should be put to death? Also, do you support the death penalty? I don't, but at least those people have been put on trial. Why should it be different for this person?"

...another Daily Kos member offered consolation about Zarqawi's death, opining that, "This too shall pass."

...Some liberals thought Zarqawi had been given an unfair reputation. "How do you know 'he was guilty of masterminding suicide bombings and beheadings of innocent civilians'? Did you hear this on the MSM? Or are you privy to information the rest of us don't have access to?" asked Daily Kos user "Johann."
UPDATE: More here:
[Stephanie Miller was] playing clips of the Rose Garden Bush remarks and just mocking his accent. "He's extra-twangy today," mocked Miller. The show's impressionist started doing Bush in a William Buckley-esque Connecticut accent, implying the Texas talk is all phony.

Then they began joking "we're auditioning for a new boogey-man," as if Zarqawi was a phantom in a closet.

...Miller also suggested at one point that perhaps the picture of Zarqawi's corpse might reveal "smoke from dry ice," as if the U.S. was suspiciously delaying their victory for ultimate political gain?

[Randi Rhodes] was saying Zarqawi was our boy, someone we protected in the no-fly zone from Saddam Hussein, and then used as an excuse for war. A few minutes later, she complained it was a "sick, psychotic" day for news, and said the rulers of America were "imperialistic, hegemonistic....dictators."

Sam Seder, ex-reactionary?

Is Air America Radio's Sam Seder a former hate-filled, mean-spirited, racist, bigoted, xenophobic, right-wing reactionary? Or, was he always the good, peace-loving, humanistic, right-thinking liberal person that he is today?

A completely unverified comment left on a thread he posted to the Huffington Post implies that the former is true:

Damn Sam, your politics sure have changed. I remember one day on our balcony at Connecticut College (remember your neighbor in Harkness?) when Ronald Reagan's helicopter flew over our campus. He had just finished giving the commnencement speech at the Coast Guard Academy. I remember clearly us both standing there. You stood up tall and proud and gave the helicopter one big glorious all-american salute. I flipped the helicopter off. To this day it is one of my biggest regrets. Do you regret your salute?

Who exactly is this "chicagoartist"? What would Seder's AAR co-workers and listeners say about his secret past? Developing...

Randi Rhodes, Michael Savage, Ron Reagan: What is our ideology anyway?

Randi Rhodes, Michael Savage, and Ron Reagan are going to be conducting a panel discussion in Seattle on June 17 and trying to answer the question, "What Is a Progressive, Anyway?" Of course, this site prefers to think of the word "progressive" as just a euphemism for "socialists or useful idiots for them". Alternatively, "like liberals, but even more strident, self-righteous, and downright annoying." Of course, if Communists are liberals in a hurry, then progressives are laid-back Communists.

Anyway, the benefit is for Mother Jones magazine, and the tickets are obviously for those who are doing quite well by doing all the good they do: $27.50 base, with $35 for the ticket plus a one year subscription to Mother Jones Magazine.

And, if you want to attend the "pre-show reception with panelists, premier seating, and subscription", that'll be a cool Benjamin, comrade. It might be worth it, considering that "libations" will be served, and if someone can get Randi sloshed it should be quite entertaining.

The evening of edutainment will attempt to answer, among others, the following:
Who and what is a progressive?

Is there a coherent and compelling message capable of leading America toward a more just and humane society?

Who on the left is capable of articulating that message?
UPDATE: It has come to this site's attention that the guest is Dan Savage, not Michael Savage.
