Supreme Soviet just this moment announce groundbreaking news in history of People's Republic: comrade and daughter of Russian folk Stephanie Miller will be spending three days appearing on MSNBC filling in for discredited racist reactionary Don Imus.
Three days of glory begin Monday, April 30, extend to glorious Worker's National Holiday on May 1, and will end - but perhaps not permanent - on May 2.
Watch it live from 6am to 9am on MSNBC (Vladivostok time), and listen to live radio show 9am to noon. Or else.

On the 23rd, "Senator" Al Franken introduced Rep. Keith Ellison at a meeting of the "Progressive States Network". Ellison is the first Muslim in Congress, and he's linked to the highly questionable group CAIR.
On the following video, Smalley does a really, really bad Dick Cheney impersonation, makes a few "jokes", says he's "proud" that Ellison is his Congressman, makes an anti-Virgil Goode "joke" mocking his concerns, and.... zzzzzzzzzzzz..... oops, I appear to have nodded off for a second.

The video of Sheldon Drobny's Nova M Radio's birthday party have finally been released, and they're even better than you might expect. In fact, the person who watched all of them told us they were the equal of the Woodstock movie of some years ago.
I didn't watch all of them, but only because I don't want to see the best videos ever made, thereby making every other video a let down. So, I only spot-checked a couple.
In the first (youtube.com/watch?v=1TiryT6UWLw), a portly lady dances around as a band plays. In a wonderful example of the cinematic arts, the director focuses on the unnamed dancer and the bass player, who appears to be Jeff Farias. The director has intentionally overexposed the video, in order to lend a special feel to the oeuvre. The electronic distortion lends it a true feel of echt.
The second (youtube.com/watch?v=Y2V_ZzkpOL8) appears to feature Stephanie Miller. The third has Bill Press (youtube.com/watch?v=nR9Y0eFnleI).
The fifth has Mike Malloy (youtube.com/watch?v=mDgONXxCays).
And, in another daring innovation, in the last video (youtube.com/watch?v=dGtO3CvblWw) - the video where you'd expect something to happen, the denouement, das Ende - nothing happens.

This is an URGENT ALERT to all Truth Squad, Anti-Hate Brigade, Hate Monitors Network, and other Peace and Freedom questers.
The latest news is that Rethuglican Michael Smerconish might take the place of the disgraced, hyper-conservative, racist, misogynist, xenophobic, anti-human hater Don Imus.
Standing in solidarity with our comrades from Media Matters (mediamatters.org/items/200704200003), we urge you to keep Smerconish's brand of hatred and obscenity off the airwaves. They highlight some of his misdeeds against The Truth:
Substituting for host Bill O'Reilly on the April 4, 2006, broadcast of The Radio Factor, Smerconish repeatedly discussed "the sissification of America," claiming that political correctness has made the United States "a nation of sissies." Smerconish also claimed, several times, that this "sissification" and "limp-wristedness" is "compromising our ability to win the war on terror."
Although MMFA doesn't provide any analysis (that will presumably be forthcoming after they receive yet more indirect funds from George Soros) presumably they're pointing out that this is an anti-gay remark, since presumably they believe that "gay" and "sissy" are synonyms. And, of course, this is also a slap against the only ideology that keeps the U.S. moving forward: political correctness. Any slap against PC is a slap against us all.
And:
On the April 10, 2006, edition of Scarborough Country, Smerconish suggested that "maybe law enforcement ought to step in" at pro-immigration demonstrations and consider "gathering ... up" illegal immigrants. Smerconish wondered why there was "zero discussion" of "gathering them up" at the demonstrations, when "[a]ll I keep hearing is how would we ever find them?" He then suggested that law enforcement officials are being hypocritical by refusing to "gather[] ... up" illegal immigrants because they would "step in and do something about" a rally of "pot smokers," who "wanted decriminalization" of marijuana, or "scofflaws" with unpaid parking tickets.
Some have said that those marching were foreign citizens who had no right to be here and who were making a show of force in our streets and demanding that we change our laws to suit them. That sort of talk is racist poppycock. No person is illegal, and our liberal beliefs lead us to support full legalization for all. True liberals do not believe in racist "borders". True liberals believe that anyone can come to the U.S. at any time, and to prevent them from doing that is just xenophobia.
Not only that, but Smerconish moderated a debate for the Republicans. And, not only that, but he's appeared on Chris Matthews' show on four dates this Spring (March 1, March 8, March 21, and April 5, and perhaps more; MMFA's monitor was on a field trip for a few days and might have missed one). In startling news, Matthews said, "all my family listens to you."
Smerconish must be stopped! Contact your Squad Leader immediately and Help Stop the Hate!

"I like Minnesotans - always have," said Franken, who was born in New York City but grew up in the Minneapolis suburb of St. Louis Park. "They are earnest, decent people who have fun. They seem to get me - they understand what a joke is. That's why I'm not so worried about what the Republicans are trying to do" - a reference to GOP efforts to use some of his off-color remarks against him.How homespun! Of course, since those yokels aren't exactly lining up to open their wallets, he's got to get money from somewhere:
Franken told [the audience at a fundraiser in Los Angeles] that while Coleman takes money from "Big Tobacco" and "Big Oil," he'll be raising money from "Big Comedy" - and that he wouldn't be writing any congressional earmarks for [Tom Hanks].Laurie David is, of course, the Queen of Global Warming, often flying to appearances in a private jet. While he might not be beholden to Big Pharma, Franken will clearly owe some favors to Big Hollywood and Big Global Warming.
Hanks then walked out of the room and slammed the door, Franken recalled in an interview Wednesday. Returning to applause, the actor pointed to Franken and the two said in unison, "Big Comedy."
...The Los Angeles fundraiser, held at the home of "Seinfeld" co-creator Larry David and his wife Laurie, brought in about $200,000, and another fundraiser in San Francisco yielded about $90,000, Franken said. That helped him pull in $1.35 million in the first quarter of the year, despite not raising any money until he announced his candidacy Feb. 14. Coleman raised $1.53 million during the quarter.

The boilerplate response to the Virginia shootings from pro-gun Republicans is, sorry about the loss but we all still have to recognize the Second Amendment right to own guns. You already know he's wrong, but now I'll explain exactly why he's wrong. I'm certainly no constitutional scholar, but I can read and there's an extremely strong possibility that he's misstating or misunderstanding Miller. See, for instance, the discussion here.
What right?
The only authoritative voice on this is the United States Supreme Court which, in United States v Miller in 1939, ruled that Congress can't constitutionally limit a state's right--not a person's right--to bear arms.
Yes, the Second Amendment says that "the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed," but that conclusion is explicitly limited to "a well regulated militia, necessary to the security of a free State."
"It was upon this force that the States could rely for defense and securing of the laws, on a force that "comprised all males physically capable of acting in concert for the common defense", who, "when called for service . . . were expected to appear bearing arms supplied by themselves and of the kind in common use at the time." The military use of shotguns with a barrel length less than 18 inches, in WW I and in prior US conflicts never entered the judicial record for this case."Note the supplied by themselves. While I'm sure some would like all property to belong to the state, that says that the members of the militia - "all males physically capable..." - should own their own guns.

Some Rethuglican Hate Speaker named Cliff Kincaid offers How Hillary's Hit Man Got Imus. This was an especially disturbing read for me, because I know everything in there is wrong. In fact, I've forwarded it to my comrades in the Hate Monitors Network for their commentary and dialectical analysis, and hopefully those comrades will be able to take time away from trying to purify the airwaves to read it.
Do you think something is fishy about the Don Imus affair? Why was the boom lowered on him at this time? The answer may have something to do with his main accuser, the Media Matters group, which is emerging as a front organization for Senator Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign and has extensive ties to the national Democratic Party. In firing Imus, NBC News and CBS got rid of one of Hillary’s major political enemies in the media.

There is life after Air America, although it's of a limited, small-time sort for Janeane Garofalo.
In 2006 she had a bit part in "Southland Tales", a foreign-film-made-by-Americans which was supposed to be some sort of wacky farce but appears to have been a massive flop. It "starred" The Rock.
But, things are looking slightly up, as June 2007 will see the airing of a pilot for the TV show "Law Dogs", aka "Untitled Barry Schindel Project" (link). This is slightly better since Ridley Scott is involved, and I like Alien. Livia Trevino co-stars as "Pointing Woman", with Marcuis Harris as Lester. Believe me: once you actually see it and get enmeshed in the drama - or at least be thankful that Janeane isn't wearing a bag - you won't be laughing at how stupid those character names are.
Garoffalo's best project yet might be "Ratatouille" (link), an animated film about a talking rat. Now, most people might think, "vermin?" or think back to the Middle Ages or today's South Bronx, but don't worry: this is a cute animated rat. The animation will make you forget all about food contamination, the black plague, rats biting ghetto children, and all the rest. Plus, it has a "liberal" message: the young rodent deals with anti-rat prejudice. Bottom line: only a speciest would refuse to see this movie.

Sources report that Al Franken and other DFLers (the Minnesota version of the Party of Socialism and Liberation) spent Saturday at the Kandiyohi County DFL's "best bean feed fundraiser ever". For your protection, I'm going to translate the report into the local language:
An annual potluckah hosted by the Kandiyohi County DFLah turned into a banner event Saturday evening youbetcha after several of the state's big-wig democrats ayup made appearances to schmoozeah the locals and raisah money for the DFL party. Eh? Eh!
More than 150-ah locals watched Alah Frankenah, and they had their best take ever. But, he wasn't aloneah!
Willmar's State Rep Al Juhnke perused the room along with former state Senate Majority Leader Dean Johnson. Other well-known state DFLers such as Michael Ciresi and James Cohen were also present.
Ya-sure?
Before coming to Saturday's fundraiser, Franken participated in a candidate debate in Granite Falls and later had coffee with Johnson in Willmar... Although Franken said he didn't get a chance to mingle with too many locals during his coffee break, "talking to Dean is a good substitute," he said... "Rural Minnesota is a good place to be," [Michael Ciresi] said.
Youbetcha!
And for those who didn't get their fill, there was always 10-by 5-inch apple pie that Franni Franken - Al Franken's wife - baked for the auction held after the meal. A similar pie brought in $100 at a different auction, she said... Franni said the monster of a pie was only medium-sized. Careful not to reveal any of her culinary craft, when asked how to bake such a big pie she responded slyly, "you use a lot of apples."
IMPORTANT UPDATE: First, some have written to say that the DFL isn't linked to the Party of Socialism and Liberation; other have suggested I'm thinking of the Revolutionary Communist Party, a former Air America Radio advertiser. Also, a couple have written to say that Minnesota is actually a U.S. state and is not a part of Canada. Those are all interesting points, and keep the letters coming.

Comrade Al Franken announced on a recent edition of Larry King Live that Imus won't be the last. In fact - just like the righteous Defenders of Truth And Freedom at Media Matters for America - Franken is targeting Glenn Beck for his noxious, racist, xenophobic, anti-human comments. Senator Al makes the correct distinction in this matter between Beck and satirists like Lenny Bruce. Bruce's satire had a point; Beck's does not and thus is indefensible.
My fellow comrades will forgive me for hearing the Franken quote on the odious Matt Drudge radio show; I was trying to tune in GramsciTalk on 620AM when I accidentally tuned in 640AM. I immediately turned the radio off when Franken's quote was over, and I will make a mental note not to listen to that station again. Sadly I was unable to turn on the recorder quickly enough because I was momentarily shocked after hear the horrible Drudge speaking, and I only recovered my senses after Franken began speaking. I shall endeavor to find a recording for The People.
Developing...

Comrades Robert Dietz and Dan Mayer from Media Matters for America inform us that "It's not just Imus", presenting a list of talk radio stars who've engaged in anti-human, bigoted, racist, misogynistic, xenophobic, mean-spirited hate speech and other thought crimes: mediamatters.org/items/200704120010
The "Hate Hosts" include: Glenn Beck, Neal Boortz, Rush Limbaugh, Bill O'Reilly, Michael Savage, Michael Smerconish, and John Gibson.
Although MMFA does not recommend specific punishment - perhaps preferring to allow those to be discussed at their trials - I strongly encourage all right-thinking persons to help drive these haters off the airwaves. Some of these haters might be able to be rehabilitated, but only after a lengthy period in Nome.
Our public airwaves must be purified of all forms of hate!
Accordingly, I've contacted MMFA, Al Sharpton, and Jesse Jackson for their assistance, and I will soon be organizing Hate Monitors to listen to the radio and report the Haters to the FCC and perhaps even the World Court. In order to help you identify other Hate Monitors, I'll be printing up buttons and T-shirts with our logo on them. We'll also be conducting rallies in the streets demanding an end to the hate, including smashing radios and burning tape recordings of the hate jocks.
Hate has no place in our community or on our airwaves, and I strongly urge you to join my Hate Monitors group.

Sheldon Drobny - Air America co-founder and new head of the Nova M radio network - has issued a clarion call to liberals throughout the land: drive Don Imus ("nappy headed hos") and all other "right wing haters" off the radio!
My suggestion to Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, and the other anti-defamation groups is that they extend their outrage to the other talk radio hosts who are doing far more damage than Imus. This would be a message to the advertisers that would really have an impact on talk radio and the dissemination of hatred that has so divided this country over the last 25 years. My suggestion to Imus is that he donates a few million dollars to a chaired professorship at Rutgers University for a media program directed at this problem if he is serious about his apology.
There's even a petition, which at post time has a whopping 84 signatories.
What Drobny would do if someone decided to go after Mike Malloy for his outrageous comments is not, at this point in time, clear.

Lionel - the most famous, most listened-to radio superstar [1] of all time - will be replacing Sam Seder. As previously offhandedly-mentioned, Seder (not to be confused with Marc Maron, who's someone else) will be leaving on Friday, April 13.
Lionel - real name Michael Lebron - will start his morning reign on May 14. Apparently they'll fill the time between Friday and that date with Jerry Springer re-runs or something.
[1] Among bearded syndicated liberal radio hosts who only go by one, six-letter name.

David Sirota sends word that on April 19th, Al Franken will be emceeing a "gala" from the Progressive States Network which will fete Sen. Jon Tester (D-MT) (the "liberal"-with-a-crewcut guy) as well as Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN).
Ellison is the first Muslim in Congress, and he's linked to the Council on American-Islamic Relations ("CAIR"), a supposedly mainstream group that certainly isn't (1,2,3,4).
Meanwhile, over in Time, Ana Marie Cox - the super-lightweight "reporter" who formerly wrote for the then-and-now sleaze site Wonkette - offers a paen to Stuart Smalley called "Don't Laugh at Al Franken"
[Mark Drake, spokesman for the Minnesota GOP] says [Franken's long line of "jokes"] get at a "larger truth" about Franken: he's got an anger issue. He once literally tackled a stubborn heckler at a Howard Dean rally after the security staff failed to eject the man. And at the 2003 White House correspondents' dinner, he greeted Karl Rove with the words "I hate you." (Franken has said they just "gibed each other a little.")
Not everything's going smoothly in the Smalley campaign:
Franken walks into a precinct meeting and has already begun his 60-second stump speech when the audience's slightly puzzled expressions prompt him to ask, "Have I interrupted the process?" A beat of silence. "That's O.K.," someone says. Slightly rattled, Franken ends quickly. I'm not sure if he hears it when someone calls, "Yeah, who are you?" Fortunately, someone else answers for him: "That was Al Franken."
Meanwhile, over in "Franken's satire might become issue":
"He is going to have a lot of explaining to do," said Republican activist Annette Meeks, "because some of the stuff he's said is so inflammatory and so personally hurtful. And it's not just the content -- yes, people know it's satire -- but it's the tone." ...For instance, Franken described Norm Coleman, the incumbent Republican, as "one of the administration's leading butt boys." That appears in Franken's 2005 book, "The Truth (with Jokes)." ...Franken has said he believes Coleman has been subservient to the Bush administration. But he says he'll replace the phrase with "lapdog."

Finally, an end to the imperialist propaganda about the Cuban Revolution, as Nicole Cattell - wife of Air America host and progressive icon Sam Seder - offers the documentary REVOLUC!ON (English: REVOLUTION). It airs on WNET in New York City next Tuesday, so at least a few thousand people will be enlightened:
For more than a century, Cuba has dared to defy the "Yankee imperialists" 90 miles to its north. Since the triumph of Fidel Castro’s revolution, Cuba has also dared to dream of realizing a utopian society. Yet despite the revolution's many achievements, such as providing health care and education to nearly all Cubans, the cost has been severe—a matter of life and death for thousands of Cubans and the exile of thousands more. Those who remain on the island have suffered limits to their individual freedoms as well as the effects of crippling economic sanctions. To some, the revolution is a celebrated success. To others, it is a dictatorship. And to many more, it falls somewhere in between. With Cuba on the brink of radical transformation and the U.S. embargo clearly outdated, it is necessary to form a new way of understanding the Cuban revolution which transcends the overly simplistic pro-Castro versus anti-Castro dialogue. Through the work of five photographers, REVOLUCION offers a multi-faceted vision of the rise and fall of the revolutionary dream in Cuba.
Via this Huffington Post post from Steve Clemons, a fellow with the Soros-funded New America Foundation. The picture is from him as well. He also passes along the news - of interest to about 10 or 20 people - that Seder will be leaving the network next Friday, the 13th.

Just a few days ago, Drudge linked to this article discussing a campaign appearance by Al Franken, reminding me that I - like almost everyone else - had forgotten that he was running for Senator from Minnesota.
I will not repeat that same mistake more than a few times, and I promise wall-to-wall coverage of the former Air America Radio host.
Herewith, from the first link:
"I just had a meeting about all the background of alfalfa"
Note: he means the crop. Meanwhile, in news that mentions Stuart:
[Al Goldstein's candidacy [for President of the U.S.] follows a tradition that began in 1968 with the candidacy of black humorist Dick Gregory, and was continued, most recently, by former wrestler and TV announcer Jesse "The Body" Ventura, who served one term as Governor of Minnesota. [Pr0nographer] Larry Flynt and [pr0n] star Mary Carey, each posted a top twenty finish in California's 2003 free-for-all of a special Governor's election. Liberal actor, writer, and talk show host Al Franken is now running for the Minnesota senator's seat.
Perhaps Stuart will announce his support. Meanwhile:
Failed radio mouth and Senatorial candidate from Minnesota, Al Franken, told David Letterman on the set of the "Late Show" that the USA should reconsider approving the Kyoto Protocols because the treaty is good for the economy — Despite that the ruinous treaty was voted down by a unanimous Senate vote in 1997 for the very reason that it would harm the economy... ...[Stuart says:] "We need to do an Apollo project in renewable energy... We need to have biofuels, we need wind."
On the bright side:
DFL Senate candidate Al Franken announced Wednesday his campaign had raised more than $1.3 million in the first quarter of the year, finishing the period with over $1 million in the bank.
The question, of course, is whether that will continue. How much of that was from Hollywood "liberals" rather than grassroots support? Will they keep giving at the same rate?
