I have reviewed past articles written by Ariana about Hillary. I have also listened to Maher over the past year. Both have been very critical of the Clintons. I watched Bill Maher tonight and could not believe that Bill actually defended the Clintons' tactics. I also watched Mark Green on Hardball pretending he was neutral about the Clintons and at the same time defending them. Now let's connect the dots. One thing you can say about Sheldon Drobny: he will fight the power, wheresoever that power may be. As he says, "Ariana and Maher have some explaining to do." Note also, that, proving his non-elitist bonafides, Sheldon jumps into comments, pointing out that he hasn't "received any money from the inside power elite" and that if AAR had received such moneys it wouldn't "have been run so poorly".
Hillary will not appear on any liberal radio shows other than Air America Radio (AAR the network that I started). Both Bill and Hillary get lots of money from the Billionaire Green family. In return the Clintons have helped AAR post bankruptcy. Almost a year ago I asked Ariana if she would do a show on our Nova Radio Network. She refused and decided to do a show with Mark Green, the CEO of AAR. Ariana and Bill Maher are very close friends. It appears that the rich and famous liberal elites have put fame and fortune ahead of principle.
In addition to being the co-founder of Air America Radio and one of the only accountants admitted to plead cases before the IRS court (or something like that), Sheldon Drobny also has comforting words for America:
Therefore, my conclusion is that the I35W Bridge collapsed because of human error or incompetence. On the whole, the bridges in America are reasonably safe and there is no need to have excessive concerns or fears about driving over them. And I also believe that this is true of air safety, subways, and the rest. The chances of your demise from one of these events including terrorism are about the same as winning the lottery. But, the MSM will try to sell you on anything that gives them a larger audience. If you believe the MSM, I have a bridge I would like to sell you; Brooklyn or "to nowhere."
Look, a rock! And, guess who just crawled out from under it carrying Larouchian literature under his arm but Air America Radio co-founder Sheldon Drobny:
The four planes that were hijacked on 9/11 were the imprimaturs for the hijacking of America... Throughout history there have been several examples of the exploitation of fear as a means to power the most notable being the Nazi takeover of Germany during the worldwide depression of the 1930s... Mike Malloy has repeatedly said on his show that he hates all Republicans. I used to think that was a pretty strong generalization. I have changed my mind. There is absolutely no redeeming aspect of the Republican Party in its current iteration and those who belong to that party. It would be like saying there are some good Nazis or fascists.
The video of Sheldon Drobny's Nova M Radio's birthday party have finally been released, and they're even better than you might expect. In fact, the person who watched all of them told us they were the equal of the Woodstock movie of some years ago.
I didn't watch all of them, but only because I don't want to see the best videos ever made, thereby making every other video a let down. So, I only spot-checked a couple.
In the first (youtube.com/watch?v=1TiryT6UWLw), a portly lady dances around as a band plays. In a wonderful example of the cinematic arts, the director focuses on the unnamed dancer and the bass player, who appears to be Jeff Farias. The director has intentionally overexposed the video, in order to lend a special feel to the oeuvre. The electronic distortion lends it a true feel of echt.
The second (youtube.com/watch?v=Y2V_ZzkpOL8) appears to feature Stephanie Miller. The third has Bill Press (youtube.com/watch?v=nR9Y0eFnleI).
The fifth has Mike Malloy (youtube.com/watch?v=mDgONXxCays).
And, in another daring innovation, in the last video (youtube.com/watch?v=dGtO3CvblWw) - the video where you'd expect something to happen, the denouement, das Ende - nothing happens.
Sheldon Drobny - Air America co-founder and new head of the Nova M radio network - has issued a clarion call to liberals throughout the land: drive Don Imus ("nappy headed hos") and all other "right wing haters" off the radio!
My suggestion to Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, and the other anti-defamation groups is that they extend their outrage to the other talk radio hosts who are doing far more damage than Imus. This would be a message to the advertisers that would really have an impact on talk radio and the dissemination of hatred that has so divided this country over the last 25 years. My suggestion to Imus is that he donates a few million dollars to a chaired professorship at Rutgers University for a media program directed at this problem if he is serious about his apology.
There's even a petition, which at post time has a whopping 84 signatories.
What Drobny would do if someone decided to go after Mike Malloy for his outrageous comments is not, at this point in time, clear.
Air America Radio co-founder Sheldon Drobny says the AAR bankruptcy sale should be investigated. Then, he informs us that the unsecured creditors are objecting to the sale of the network to Stephen Green. Then:
Below are some of the points raised in this objection which validate my assumption that the 3 former directors and the Green group are in an unholy alliance to take over AAR on the cheap. They are not the least bit concerned about who they screw in the process despite the fact that they are supposed to be liberals and fair minded. If the judge in this case grants permission for this sham sale, it will confirm again the fact that the Bankruptcy Court is the worst example of crony capitalism.
Then, he excerpts the only-of-interest-to-accountants details of the objection.
----
Say, have you seen the Al Franken video I made about his final day at the network? It's really good. Please go here or here. Oh, and don't be shy about spreading those links around, ya hear?

Professional accountant and Air America Radio co-founder Sheldon Drobny has heartening news for all those who are owed money by the network: you're only getting $500,000 to share between all of you.
Apparently, the scheme worked like this:
...Rob Glaser, Terry Kelly, and Doug Kreeger started funding the post bankruptcy operations with what is called "debtor in possession" (DIP) loans. DIP loans always have priority of payment in a Chapter 11 proceeding. The DIP loan as of the most recent court filing was $3.25M and there are outstanding preferred creditor payments totaling about $500,000. Therefore, the net proceeds from the $4.25M sale available to all other creditors are $500,000. All the investors and virtually all the creditors have been abandoned despite their strong support and belief in AAR.
You'll be delighted to know that everything worked out OK for Sheldon:
There is an old Yiddish word, beshert, which means that it was meant to be. I believe that the recent events concerning AAR were beshert and that it was the best thing that ever happened to the Drobnys in our efforts to make a positive impact on the way the MSM operates.

Air America co-founder Sheldon Drobny continues his tirades against AAR's management with this reaction to the news that AAR has finally found a buyer. Unfortunately, it's less loony than previous Shelly outings, but it makes up for it with his snipes against Rob Glaser and the rest of the Air America board. He also questions whether the network is worth anything because many of their affiliates are dropping out of the network due to their contracts being up, and they have no real star power. And, needless to say, he promotes his new venture, the Nova M Network.

All 1000 remaining Air America Radio listeners were shocked and saddened to read AAR co-founder Sheldon Drobny's exclusive, behind-the-scenes take on the downfall of that network: "AIR AMERICA RADIO: AN EXAMPLE OF EGO AND CRONY CAPITALISM" (that title will soon be converted to regular case by one of Arianna's minions).
I am not an accountant, but as near as I can figure it out the major investors elbowed out the minor investors, and even wanted to declare bankruptcy as early as September 1, 2006.
Like a shining knight, Sheldon and his wife rushed forward with a $2.5 million buyout plan, but were rebuffed:
But, the 3 people now responsible for running AAR post bankruptcy have a deal in the works and the old investors have been successfully eliminated despite their belief in the project.
Like martyrs throughout history, Shelly pledges to bravely soldier on:
As you may know, we have been doing our own syndicating with our company Nova M Radio and our first talk host, Mike Malloy is now in several cities and Sirius Satellite. We have other programming which will be quite compelling and help carry on the trend to break out of the beachhead established by AAR. And, we plan to take Nova M Radio public within the next 3 months to make the investment one that can be supported by the grass roots majority of this nation. Joe Trippe is working with us to help make that happen. Nova M Radio will have as its investors people that can legally invest in a public company for $50 or $5M. And they will have the pride of ownership of a radio network that will represent the shareholders and the general public and possibly change the face of media that was our dream in the spring of 2001.

It's been a while since we last checked in with Air America co-founder, Nova M co-founder, and all around strange person Sheldron Drobny. In his latest he's taking on the patriarchy. Oh, and he also discusses the penis.

Former Air America Radio co-founder Sheldon Drobny has since bought a couple stations that carry that network, and he recently tried and failed to buy AAR before it went into bankruptcy.
Leaving those failures in the past, Shelly has now decided to start his own network to syndicate "progressive" yakkers, starting with former AAR host Mike Malloy. The only station so far scheduled to carry the new "network" will be one that Shel owns, 1480-AM KPHX Phoenix, and it will kick off the day before Halloween.
The CEO of the new venture is Dr. Mike Newcombe, who has/had a show on that station. They also have a "strategic partnership" with Joe Trippi and Associates. He made millions off Howard Dean's ad buys. John Zogby, president and CEO of Zogby International, will be providing a one-hour per week show.
Note that Malloy's timeslot is given as "9PM -12 Midnight (EST)", which is a bit odd since I think they're refering to Phoenix, Arizona. That latter state refuses to use standard times like everyone else in the country, meaning that that could be either starting at 6pm or 7pm local time. In any case Malloy should provide relaxing dinner-time chat for those who tune in.

...Everyone that is doing business in Hollywood entertainment is first and foremost promoting their own financial interests. The latest example is Bill Maher. Will Sheldon go the way of Melvin Duchovny?
I read that his first guest on his new season starting tomorrow is Ann Coulter. I do not mean to interfere with Bill's sex life, but give me a break. Either she is totally self promotional or she is a psychopath spewing hatred across the media. In either case, Maher's audience should cringe at the sight of her on his show. Maher's explanation about his "libertarian" views requiring him to portray all points of view is a cop-out. He calls himself a libertarian because he does not have the courage to say that he may be a progressive. Most of the people who call themselves libertarians don't even understand what a libertarian believes in. But "Mr. politically incorrect" wants you to think that he is a libertarian.
Maher became a sellout when he apologized for making "politically incorrect" statements about the 9/11 hijackers. When you have a show called "Politically Incorrect" there should be no need for apologies since that is the name of your show. And don't give me that crap about the world was very different after 9/11. What Maher did was to suck up to his corporate masters and he was fired anyway...
I just got a call from Arianna Huffington. She told me that Ann Coulter is not a scheduled guest on Maher's show tomorrow. Then, he gives out his phone number. A few posts from others later, he issues forth "Bill Maher: A Retraction Clarification":
I want to make it clear that the retraction of my previous post only applies to the inaccuracy as to Coulter being a guest on his premiere show. Since Coulter has been a frequent guest on previous Maher shows, I do not retract any opinions about Mr. Maher and his hypocracies. Evidently I really struck a nerve with Maher and his producers to have gotton a call from Arianna.
Since others had the same "erroneous" information I had about her being a guest, I suspect that Maher had second thoughts about her being on the premiere show. I know that last year she was a premiere show guest.
It is bad enough that Maher has Hitchens on his show. I am a friend of Sidney Blumenthal and I cannot imagine a more disgusting back stabber as Hitchens who during the Clinton impeachment caused lots of problems for Sid because of his insane hatred of the Clintons. I put Hitchens in the same category as Coulter in terms of borderline psychopathic behavior...

When confronted with a huge mass of verbage from Sheldon Drobny, how does one figure out what he's talking about? The last thing you want to do is - like me - try to watch TV and listen to the radio while scanning his latest entry. That means I lost his segue from intriguing topic to next intriguing topic. It went something like this:
I have known for years that a smart wealthy person could keep control of all his assets without estate or income taxes through cleverly structured charitable foundations... The Gates Foundation and the Catholic Church have the same goals... The great problems of the world today are a direct result of the wide disparity between the rich and poor... The governments that keep their people in abject poverty while their leaders are obscenely rich from oil revenues cause many of the problems in the Middle East... The movie was not great but it did emphasize the point I am making in this piece...
The movie? Wasn't he talking about foundations? How'd he get around to the Middle East? Who is he and why is he there?
I do know this: I've read and recommend The Rich and The Super-Rich, and Sheldon is no Ferdinand Lundberg.

The AAR co-founder sent a nastygram to former Los Angeles Times editor John Carroll, and got one in return:
Dear Mr. Drobny,
I'm sorry you think my father wouldn't approve of my working for Tribune Company. I'm also sorry you went to so much trouble researching his writings from the 1940s to make your point. Fortunately, my father lived a very long life -- long enough to see me take the job in Tribune Company and to express his deep pride.
In my job as a newspaper editor, I receive quite a bit of mail from crackpots. So far in 2005, you're leading the pack. Keep up the good work!
John Carroll
And, because he's who he is, he decided to tell us all about it.

To celebrate the creation of a new category just for Air America Radio co-founder Sheldon Drobny, here's his latest post on the Huffington Post. I just love sight gags, don't you? Note that the link just goes on and on, being obscured by the sidebar on the right and then finally appearing from behind it.

I can't comment on every single post on the Huffington Post from AAR co-founder Sheldron Drobny, but this one is especially funny:
I am a contributor to OpEdNews.com, a thoughtful progressive site that is run by Rob Kall. He is a good friend and has always been a true believer in the "cause." This is an email that he sent out to all his contributing writers which I think is a standard that should apply to all sensible blog managers.
Arianna, are you listening?
UPDATE: From this 7/25 entry:
While at lunch today, I was fortunate to catch the appearance of Air America co-founder, Sheldon Drobny on the Dennis Prager show. While I applaud Drobny's willingness to appear in such a forum, I was far from impressed with his performance. Listening to him make unsupported assertions, back away from taking positions, pretend that he was under attack, and refuse to admit that he was even on the left, was not exactly entertaining, but it was enlightening.
If you too would like not to be exactly entertained, the audio is here. Search for "Is Left Anti-Semitism a Right Wing Plot?".

Is Karl Rove using his sputnik mind control ray and Rockefeller rich man's mafia powers to steal Air America Radio co-founder Sheldon Drobny's thoughts and sap him of his vital fluids?
That remains undetermined. However, here's the final paragraph of Sheldon Drobny's latest HuffPost essay:
So my conclusion is that the bloggers who violently hate Israel and see it in black and white terms are not really liberals. They may even be anti-Semites, but they are not representative of the liberal community that was so active in achieving racial and ethnic equality. It is a contradiction for a true liberal to be an anti-Semite. Furthermore, I would not put it past the right wing to flood the liberal blogs with hateful criticisms of Israel to advance a perception that liberals are anti-Israel or anti-Semitic. And I see Karl Rove's fingerprints all over this.
(Note: I usually just scan Drobny's various rantings and this eluded me. However, this blog was making a big deal out of, so I decided to read what Drobny actually wrote this time.)

...It is the fact that that most of the wealthy liberals will not support it financially that prevents AAR from doing many of the things that would make it very successful. I am not suggesting that AAR is going out of business. We are still shareholders of AAR and have our own disagreements with some management decisions but that is only natural in corporate America. The big problem has always been from the very start that rich liberals refuse to give it financial support and they make excuses for not making an investment in AAR that are disingenuous. The people who are funding AAR now are the same people who funded it originally including our venture fund.Air America: A "Very Special" Investment. Maybe he could sell it as a way of taking a loss or something like that. Sure, there might be rules and regulations against that, but a top CPA like Drobny can surely find a loophole.
But every big time investor who is a liberal shifts the due diligence process to one of their financial advisors as if this were a "garden variety" investment. It is not...
Divisions between the left had very disastrous effects in history. All one has to do is review the hostility between the left in Germany in the early 1930s to appreciate that the right wing wins when the left is divided.

The oddness of Air America, Sheldon Drobny, and their supporters never ceases to amaze.
The latest claim is that they've found a really good station in Milwaukee that could carry AAR's programming.
There's just one catch: the current owners won't lease it, they'll only sell it. And, it'll cost $5 million.
That's where you come in. See, they want you to give them money.
But, wait! You'll get something in return: pixels. Just like the effort to bring back AAR Phoenix, the Drobnys are trying to sell pixels. They've already sold 600, with just 999,400 to go. So, get yours now and avoid the rush.
Please do it, and do it now! Don't make them seek alternative sources of funding.

Are you in Milwaukee?
Would you like to meet original Air America Radio investor Sheldon Drobny and kick in some money towards starting an AAR station there?
Hello? Is anyone still there?
Tonight Sheldon will be passing the hat and trying to start a co-op radio station in that city.
Backstory in "Sheldon Drobny looking for suckers in Milwaukee".
A special guest is promised. Whoever could it be? Will Bozo the Clown be driving up? Perhaps Rep. William Jefferson will be stopping by. Lyndon LaRouche? Feel free to leave your best guess in the comments.
UPDATE: Here's a picture of the antenna AAR's going to use for their station.
UPDATE 2: According to this, only 100 people showed up for the event. And, Drobny's having problems finding a station at his price:
"Let's say if it takes $3 (million), $3-and-a-half million, we might do it. It's a good investment, No. 1. No. 2, the community wants it."
Posted at 09:37 AM | Comments (0)
Wouldn't Air America be truer to form if, for instance, the listeners owned the means of production? Wealthy and wacky venture capitalist Sheldon Drobny - an original investor in the ever-fledgling network - is looking for comrades/sotrudniki/investors in a new Milwaukee outlet using that very same idea.
He's looking for smaller investors, as small as $10 or $100. Don't laugh! It's the same model that's been successfully used by REI, your local hippie co-op, S&H Green Stamps, and the Soviet Union (to a limited extent). Further, cheeseheads apparently refer to it as the "Green Bay Packer community model".
So far their search for a station has come to naught. We're informed that they were:
...rebuffed by Packers Hall of Famer Willie Davis, the owner of black talk radio station WMCS-AM (1290)... Air America representatives contacted WMCS and "we have absolutely no interest whatsoever," said general manager Bill Hurwitz.
Further, Clear Channel's WXXM-FM (92.1) already carries Al Franken and Stephanie Miller. So, what little market there is might already be saturated.
The article also contains the interesting info that their new Little Rock station was not an outright purchase, but a lease with an option to buy. Just in case...

I have absolutely no idea why I keep linking to Sheldon Drobny's screeds at the Huffington Post. Perhaps because they're so humorous to scan? Yeah, that's it. Here's the latest.
UPDATE: Apparently a sane HuffPo staffer has lowercased Sheldon's shouting. And, make sure and see the comment from "RothBard".

As previously discussed, Air America Radio co-founder Sheldon Drobny called out all rich liberals in a post at the HuffPost.
His latest post is now available, but I'd suggest saving it off if you want to read it again. He repeats his claim that rich "liberals" refuse to fund things like "liberal" radio, then throws down the gauntlet:
In the movie The Shaw Shank Redemption, the character played by Tim Robbins, Andy Dufresne, wrote a letter every week to the governor of the state to get funding for the prison library. It took him years to get a check for a few hundred dollars. After he got the check, he kept on writing his letters every week. That is what I plan to do with the Huffington Post until I either get banned from the blog or guilt these mega millionaires to start supporting projects other than those that feather their own nest or their inflated egos.
Speaking of movies, isn't something like that usually followed by a shot of the agitator being shown the door?
Then, he insults those who he wants to give him money:
And the hypocrisy of these Hollywood elites is mind boggling. While they complain about the MSM, they are making obscene money for 20th Century Fox which is owned by Ruppert Murdoch. They continue making money for Time/Warner, NBC, Disney, and Viacom. Disney owns ABC Radio which is the major broadcaster of Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity. These successful Hollywood actors, producers, and directors can be in a position to do things their own way and work with their own companies. It is time for these people to know that without the talent, the studios would be lost.
Then, he insults the HuffPost itself:
I hope the readers on this blog will catch this post while it is on the most recent post list. I certainly do not expect this to be a featured post. That is reserved for the elites who complain about things a lot but not much more. The featured post section is for all the elite journalists, directors, producers, and actors. I can't wait to see David Mamet's next cartoon.

...[mentions his book "Road to Air America"]...
...[he met Clinton and Gore but they didn't cough up any dough]...
...So we had only our own money and some of our traditional investors to start up Air America Radio. We ultimately had to sell the company reluctantly in November, 2003 because we could not raise the 40-50 million dollars necessary to complete the funding. The buyers actually did get the network on the air but they also ran out of money. Perhaps the buyers thought that they could do better with some of the Hollywood mega-millionaires. Although they got a lot of promises, they also were unable to raise money from the progressive elites. We unfortunately realized that ego and power are not limited to the right wing.
In May of 2004, after the buyers defaulted on their commitments to us and other investors, Anita and I were called upon to help reorganize and save Air America Radio. We were the first ones to loan $500,000 to the company to pay for back salaries and health insurance...
...[claims that AAR reaches "almost 70% of the radio audience". Even Al Franken only claims 63%, and both figures are misleading and includes things like uninhabited areas. Hey, someone might be backpacking with a radio or something, so...]
[...includes long, unformatted excerpt from a friend's website...]
...Anita and I have been traveling throughout the country visiting the local affiliates of Air America Radio and have been received by literally thousands of appreciative people in our presentations. Almost everyone thanks us for having the courage to take a chance with almost all our resources to change the media direction of this country. And yet almost no one in Hollywood knows about who we are and what we have done that could have easily been done by the billionaires and millionaires in Hollywood who could have funded the project without making a dent in their life styles or fortunes. Instead they invested their tens of millions of dollars in lost campaigns to get on stage with the prominent Democratic candidates. A small fraction of those campaign contributions could have helped Air America Radio and other projects like Democracy Radio.
...[says he can only get on CSPAN, and calls out friend-of-Arianna Bill Maher for not having him on...]
My message to all the rich and powerful on the progressive side is to put your money where your mouth is even if it is not your idea or does not put you on stage with a prominent candidate. Anita and I will be glad to let you know how you can help with this David and Goliath battle to take back broadcast media... [provides his email address]

[Read in Tommy Flanagan style] Besides my co-founding Air America Radio, I have another day job. I have helped prosecute and defend white collar crime offenses for 38 years including experience with Mr. Fitzgerald's office in my home town Chicago on current political prosecutions. [Read in overly-melodramatic style] Those of us locally in the know here do not agree that Mr. Fitzgerald is as independent as the press has made him out to be. [cue flourish of ominous music] Let me explain. It ends like this:
Those of us who know about prosecutors and Grand Jury investigations would tell you that Fitzgerald, using a baseball metaphor, threw the Bush cabal a softball. And using a football metaphor, he just plain fumbled. In the middle, there is no support for his claim that Fitzgerald isn't as independent as claimed. We're just left with his word for it.
- Not sure what that second link they posted is about though.I'm in the dark about this too. Who could have dropped my link over at HuffPost?
- But why the link to the flaming anti-Frankel and AA site?
- I didn't quite get that either but didn't want to cut their comment in half. My only point was that Mr. Drobny is no lawyer - at least I couldn't find anything after Googling it.
